Update: I've created and modified "The Basic Approach - Online Education Guide" on the wiki.
It's got the links to the information here, with minor updates.

For the Kaplan PLA course, I just left it there with a reminder about the ACE Recommendation Expiration.
I've updated the wiki to indicate so, let's hope they'll renew it, if not there's a warning note.
Thanks, bjcheung77

Update: Effective 6/1/2016 - Penn Foster bumped their price per course to $299 from $237.
It is still a bargain for 3 UL credits mainly for Business Requirements and Business Electives.

TrailRunr Wrote:Year 1 - $75 app fee, $114 TECEP, cost of transcripts. You get 3 credits for the $189 + transcripts.
Year 2+ - $114 TECEP and you get another 3 credits
If you're careful, you won't run out of easy TECEPs to hold your current catalog and your current transfer credits.
Could you please list the "easy TECEPs"?
I've been "out of it" for about a year, and now I'm hearing about all the changes TESU has made so I want to make sure... Is TESU's pay per credit tuition plan still the same where you can take 8 TECEPs to "skip/cover" the (something like $3500?) enrollment fee? I've searched the forum and lots of people keep referring to their "recent changes" but I haven't found much expounding on them lol.
Thanks for this thread...it is gold! An excellent resource for newbies and also for forgetful youngins like myself lol.

Instead you must either take 16 credits in actual courses or pay a $2000 residency waiver fee. Lots of threads around on the subject.
If you got your 8 TECEPs in or before the May term, you can avoid the fee.

Essentially, you will be enrolled when you take a TECEP, it will be for the year I think. You continue the process if you're not done with the degree, that'll keep you enrolled until you're ready to transfer more credits to TESU. The TECEP will be part of your degree requirements anyways, so some people have commitments and will take a while to complete degree requirements, this will allow them to stay enrolled and use their catalogue for the calendar year they applied.

Thanks bjcheung for all your input.
questions:
1) are the spreadsheets you made in the beginning of this thread still accurate?
2) any reason not to use the general ed guide that is $850 instead of the general ed guide that is $1100?
3) are there cost saving alternatives to the PF courses?
Thank you again for all you've done to help newbies like me understand the opportunity.
My wife and I are going to tackle this thing and get our degrees because of trailblazers like you.
If you are willing to make yourself (or anyone reading this that knows this game inside and out) available for a chat, can compensate you for your input.
Best,
Michael

The spreadsheetS are accurate except the Kaplan PLA course is no longer usable, and you now have to take the cornerstone.

Hello MChavez,
I'm always here, :coolgleam:
Just PM me whenever you need.
We're here to help fellow students along the way to life long learning.
I didn't just post the Beginners Guide on this forum, the sister forum has this as a sticky as well.
But you should always look at the degreeforum.wikia.com for the most updated info as the threads can't be updated after a day of posting.
PM me with questions, my answers are always free.
Note: If you would like to help others, in my previous posts, I always mention to donate to your local Children's or Women's Hospital
As you get a tax refund and it's helpful to whichever charity - I donate to the Heart & Stroke foundation as well.
Cheers
