BYU is regionally accredited, so the credits are transferrable. Make sure you only take the "University Courses," since BYU Independent Study also offers courses for high school, for personal enrichment, and some free courses. Only the university courses are for college credit, so only those are going to transfer.
BYU's English should be fine for the written English requirement at EC. Of course, you always want to get approval in writing from your advisor first just to be on the safe side. Just a thought, from the course description, with its "emphasis on library-based research," I wonder if EC would also count this course as also fulfilling the information literacy requirement. This may be a long shot, but still probably worth at least sending an email to ask. MLS 500 counts for both the written English requirement and the information literacy requirements, so maybe this will, too?

Thanks for the insight. All i need is the WER, am not required to take info literacy. i plan to take the course (Eng 115) b4 i enroll,so i can't be officially advised..but i feel comfortable to go ahead. I wish i cd also find an independent study course to fulfil the humanities core intermediate or advanced expository writing. Any ideas?

Before you sign up with BYU you might want to look at Clovis Community College's English 104, it only cost $185.00 plus text.
