Hello everyone,
I wonder if somebody has experience in taking Brigham Young University FLAT ( foreign language achivement test) and applying credits to TESC ? I read a thread started few years ago that Excelsior awarded credits for FLAT but wonder if somebody did it in TESC? Also I am curious to know is it possible to take FLAT before enrollment to TESC or do you need to be a matriculated TESC student to take it?
Thanks in advance!

Wow, I didn't know this existed at all. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I might do it even if Excelsior didn't take credit.

Yes, look for posts by wb.john. He used FLATS for credit at EC a couple of years ago.

Just being nosey, but why aren't you considering the CLEP exams for your language. While I have never taken one, I understand that you can be awarded up to 12 credit hours.

CLEP offers 3 languages. FLATS appears to offer dozens. Personally, I want to take the Japanese exam.

Also, search for ACTFL OPI, which could offer UL credit, too.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. Unfortunately, ACTFL OPI does not exist in Ukrainian at present time, they replied that they do not have testers. I might try Russian OPIc ( computerized version).

Sweet, just got email confirmation from my advisor that they'll accept the FLATS exam for Japanese. Can't wait to schedule it.

Way to go!!! I wrote to TESC and asked if they will accept FLATs, I do not know if they will answer to a student that is not matriculated though...
