BSBA GM - TESU Eval review request
#1
Hello All, Please see the attached eval from TESU for a BSBA-GM. Please review and suggest what would be the easy/fast courses and providers for the missing courses especially in AOS, possibly through a combination of SDC and Davar. I plan to do the English 102 through SL (Instructor led version) because I tried Sophia and the essay writing portion was difficult for me. Also plan to do American Government through IC and Quantitative Literacy through CSM. I did Accounting through Sophia but it is not in the evaluation yet and currently working on Microeconomics through Sophia. Your suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated to finalize my degree plan.

Stats at Sophia is going to be the easiest way to do Statistics. It's not easy-easy but it's still easier than other possible options. Make sure you avail yourself of the videos because the text doesn't do a very good job of explaining things.

GE elective: You only need one. That's easy, go do the FREE TEEX courses.

InstantCert's Managerial Accounting comes in as an UL accounting course; or it should. Take either "Accounting 102: Intro to Managerial Accounting" at SDC or "ACCT-302 Accounting for Management" to fill the LL slot (the one not covered by the Sophia Accounting course) and the InstantCert course as an UL accounting course.

Business Law: Sophia. There is an essay portion but it's short (about 700 words, IIRC) and you can get 51% on the essay and still pass the Business Law course. I didn't put much effort into the essay and still got a decent score.

Principles of Finance: Sophia.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Oh Yeah Baby, you're half way through! Good work my friend! And I agree with you, you should finish everything with the Sophia/Study.com combo... Unless you want to try dabbling in some Davar courses, it's all personal preference. Grab as many credits as possible from Sophia.org if you have the membership, do their College Algebra course for the Quantitative Literacy, the CSM Learn will go into the required Math-Stats. Do the Accounting/Economics (both)/Finance/Business Law with Sophia.org and for the remainder that's missing Business Comm/Management/Marketing, do so through Study.com

For your AOS, you have two management courses already, you need two other areas out of three - Accounting, Finance, Marketing
As an example, these maybe the easiest three to take to finish off your requirements for the GM AOS, you can choose others
ICC Managerial Accounting - TESU Financial Accounting II ACC-312 (UL)
Study.com Business 202 E-Commerce - TESU MAR 206 E-Marketing (LL)
Study.com MAR 306 Principles of Selling - TESU MAR 310 Principles of Sales (UL)

Here are some other examples, just grab which ever ones you're really interested in learning from Davar/Study.com
And, just email academic advising to see if it will apply to your degree (it should, but I'm always safe) - you need 4 UL

Davar Academy Link: https://www.davaracademy.com/business.html
Choose between FIN-334 International Finance and FIN-311 Corporate Finance
Complete MAR-310 Principles of Sales
Complete MAN-372 International Management
Complete MAN-373 Managerial Communications

MAKE SURE TO TAKE 4 UPPER LEVEL IN THE AOS AS YOUR TWO IN THE AOS IS LOWER LEVEL

You should take the following to finish your degree off with InstantCertCredit and Study.com
ICC Managerial Accounting UL $20 exam + $15 proctor
SDC MAR 306 Principles of Sales UL $100
SDC BUS 120 International Business LL $100
SDC BUS 113 Business Communications LL $70/extra exam

Thank you Rachel. I will look into IC for the Managerial Accounting. Currently has the extended membership for Sophia, so I will utilize that for Business Law.

Hi Bj, Thank you for all the great suggestions. I already did the SDC’s BUS 120 - International Business and it is slotted in the Business/Society requirement. Do you think it is better to complete everything else through SDC or some Davar might be a bit easier?

It's all personal preference, I suggest taking a look at both Davar/Study.com courses, I would recommend Davar as it'll be slightly cheaper but they're NCCRS. If the Study.com upper level division course has 1 assignment, then that'll be ideal, if it has more, I would then recommend Davar over that Study.com course... they both use RPNow for proctoring, but Study.com is ACE recommended for Credit.

Thanks again Bj. I like that idea of checking the UL SDC courses for 1 assignment or it has several. Writing papers is not my favorite thing to do. I remember reading about a Marketing course which is short especially for someone who did BUS 120 and planning to do BUS113.

Per your PM, here's what I recommend:

Since you're already have Sophia (for the year-long deal I assume?), I'd do that for as much as possible:
College Algebra
Stats
The Essentials of Managing Conflict (since you only need 1cr in GE Electives)
Business Law
Macroeconomics

Then I'd switch to Study.com for the rest:
ACC 102: Intro to Managerial Accounting
BUS 101: Principles of Management
BUS 102: Principles of Marketing
BUS 113: Business Communication
4 UL courses, at least 2 have to be in areas other than MAN (so MAR, ACC or FIN)
I think if you do a "global combo" of these courses, there may be some overlap (not guaranteed) and you cover MAN, FIN & MAR:
BUS 308: Globalization and International Management
FIN 302: International Finance
MARK 303: Global Marketing

Hope that helps!

Forgot to mention: at this point, I don't know how TESU is bringing in the CSM course, there are different posts here that say different things.  So you might want to do a bunch of courses except the 2 math ones, transfer it all in, and see if it will work for one of the 2 requirements (Quant Lit or Stats) and go back and do that final math requirement (or both of them if CSM Learn doesn't work in either space).
TESU BSBA/HR 2018 - WVNCC BOG AAS 2017 - GGU Cert in Mgmt 2000
EXAMS: TECEP Tech Wrtg, Comp II, LA Math, PR, Computers  DSST Computers, Pers Fin  CLEP Mgmt, Mktg
COURSES: TESU Capstone  Study.com Pers Fin, Microecon, Stats  Ed4Credit Acct 2  PF Fin Mgmt  ALEKS Int & Coll Alg  Sophia Proj Mgmt The Institutes - Ins Ethics  Kaplan PLA

Thank you very much for the well thought out suggestions. Yes, I do have the year long Sophia subscription. I will plan as recommended.
