BSBA BS... Dual degree nonsense.

Who wants to explain to HR that this is "totally a business admin degree" when it says nothing about that?

To be fair, an individual could totally sell a BS-CIS as a technical degree to an employer regardless of content, it sounds a lot better than BSBA-CIS. Unless of course (in your case) someone is specifically looking for a business degree.

Yes, and if you already have the CS degree, the second lesser technical degree is useless.

A BS in CIS actually sounds pretty good and will certainly work for some students who are looking for more of a tech-type degree and who don't want to deal with Calculus for a BACS. But to not be given this information until graduation, that sucks.

Im actually seriously considering getting this as a second bachelors for that very reason! I like tech/IT but have no interest in calc or discrete math.

I honestly don’t think it makes a difference. You can sell it whichever way you want. Either as a tech or a business degree.

Where it makes a difference is for those who planned for one thing and now have to scratch those plans because the configurations don’t work together.

Since I’m doing accounting and CIS I had been wondering what my diploma would say - BS or BSBA, but with these new developments I guess I will end up with both? I wasn’t already planning on getting a second degree, just one with two AOS, so I’m okay with that. I just hope there aren’t more surprises. Like, will I need to meet different requirements to get two degrees than I would originally have had with just one degree and two AOS?

It really depends on the student, if I was doing this all over again, I would do the Entrepreneurship & International Business double AOS, and all the other certs as additions if I ever wanted to, that is because you can add all the certs and these are the only two AOS that doesn't have a cert available... Note: For the AOS, they used to have an option for overlapping classes, but now, there aren't any overlapping courses allowed for any of the AOS.

OP. You may look into adding the Associates degree in business administration since you cant get the BSBA. You probably l already have the required credits by default.

As an update, I submitted a request to have an exception made. The most significant evidence I had was that I specifically requested the "BSBA CIS" to be added to my plan. Advising responded to the email and confirmed that they had added it and called it the "BSBA CIS." The website has also yet to be updated. They are making an exception to allow me to graduate with the old designation of Dual BSBA in Finance and CIS due to this communication with advising. They are not changing their policy, and unless you have some record of discussing this with advising, you will be hard-pressed to get them to change it, in my opinion.
