I'm the original author of the Wiki UMPI BLS project management degree plan.
I went by student feedback when I put the recommendation in. I haven't seen the actual template so I don't know how critical it is or how much time it would save.
However, it's nowhere near as critical as you MUST take biology at Study.com or else be ready for 10x the work.
https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-BIO105-Problems
Or as critical as taking Calculus at Sophia, which could also save you 10x the work compared to some options.
Maybe that BUS141 template saves you 5-10hrs. I'm not sure. That's still up for debate.
I have taken Project Management at Sophia, which is a pretty quick and easy course I got done in 1-2 days.
Errors in Degree Plans
Sometimes there could be errors in the degree plans. For example, one error I believe is that "conflict resolution" won't work for 1C.
I suggest double-checking everything with the UMPI Database and other equivalent guides.

For each and every student, it's different. Basically, I would say...It really depends on the person and their experience, knowledge, study habits... If they're more experience with PM and have been working in the field, then you can take the "easy" way out. Find the course content and compare the info and see if they can complete one or the other, maybe both.
If they're new and young, have energy, time to spend on the courses, then take them all at UMPI and also at Sophia.org as the two courses have similar subject matter that overlaps, but each course may have some other content the other doesn't. Example, I've taken some courses a few times from different providers before as I like to retain, review, info learned.

I would say that if you want to learn some of the material ahead of time, to make Project Management easier/faster to get through, and you're already going to be using Study.com for anything, to go ahead and take the PM course there, but not finish it (skip the projects, skip the final exam).
Or, if you have time left on Sophia, do the course but don't do the last piece of it, so that they don't send it to Credly (I'm assuming they automatically send things to Credly when you complete them; if you can complete it without them sending it to Credly, then by all means, finish the course).
Either way, you'll gain the knowledge, but you won't skip the course at UMPI that makes it easier to complete the subsequent courses you'll be taking which rely on that first course.

You can also hide courses from your Credly account and they won't show up on your transcript.

Just because you've taken the course at one place doesn't mean you can't take it elsewhere. Most people may have done X course 5-10 years ago, they may want to re-take the course just to retain, review, what was within the course. I've seen people do this for many courses, not just one. There really isn't a need to "hide" the course, just tell UMPI you want to take the BUS141 course to recall the info and learn something that may be new/different in their BUS141 course. Anyways, find which path is more for you and just go for it...

I had taken a pm course as CSU Global that transferred to UMPI as BUS141. I asked to take BUS141 because I thought I was going to learn Microsoft Project. Spoiler alert....you won't use Project nor will you learn about it. By taking BUS141 you not only create that template you'll use later, but you also get a feel for what Professor Dorsey is looking for in the projects which is really helpful in the advance classes.
