I'm feel better. I took the first peterson's test and got a 63 on it. Not too bad. I would go through the tests and whatever answers you get wrong, try and understand why that isn't the correct answer. I did that for all the one I got wrong and I feel MUCH better. I'm going to take the second one sometime today. I also downloaded the official CLEP practice test for $10. There was a few (maybe 5) questions on a lab (Gel electoporosis or however you spell it). I had NO clue any of these answers. Also, the original post of this forum, i put that i am taking the exam the 26th. I am actually taking it tomorrow! haha

johanna---dont just look over the test, actually take it! you may be surprised and what you do and don't know. i bought the petersons test at first and didnt take them as if it were a real test, id kinda look at a question and find an answer or not even answer some of them. I had to rebuy them to take them and see where i am truly at. you may do better than you think! when i stumble upon a question i have no idea the answer, i ask myself "okay what do they want me to know here" and i eliminate answers that sound ridiculous.

dont say that! you HAVE to go into it positive! just read through each question carefully and try to eliminate some of the answers. do you take it the 26th? i take mine tomorrow so i will post on here how it goes. I'm REALLY nervous, but trying to stay positive. take as many practice tests as you can, and also look into the exam feedback on this thread. everyone has been extremely helpful with what to expect on the exam; some people even put down some of their test questions! you can do this! stay positive. its a tough subject, but just remember you only need to pass!

I was going to take the bio test tomorrow (Friday the 18th), but when I took the second Peterson's practice exam last night, I saw SOO much stuff on there that I was clueless about (have NEVER heard of a K-selected species). I still ended up with a 63%, but that's what I had on the first practice test. It seemed that the topics between the two were about 75% different. I called to reschedule for next week.
If I don't pass the CLEP, I'll try and take the AP exam in another month.
I got the SparkNotes flashcards and am working with them to help me with Kreb's, Electron Transport Chain, and Calvin Cycles, along with all of the different parts of Meiosis and Mitosis.
By the way, my husband (Master's in Microbiology) and best friend (Medical Technologist) took a look at some of the questions, and they said no way is some of the stuff first-year biology. They think that the Peterson's tests are over-preparing. I have the REA book somewhere, I will try those tests over the weekend. I'm using my son's AP biology textbook to study.

Most people say the Petersons tests are harder than the real exam but keep in mind the bio exam is 6 credits so it's going to cover a lot of material.

Don't let that score be the end of the world for you. I'd advise you to just study, not in panic mode, but just study as much as you can before next Friday. Make flash cards of important terms and definitions, and draw mind maps to connect the systems of information all together. I'll be back in a few minutes after I finish my Spanish PT to show you what I'm talking about.
