After a ridiculous amount of indecision and one false start I have decided to pursue the Master of Arts form Western New Mexico University.
Virtual Campus - Online Programs
I applied on Sunday, was accepted on Monday and received a call following up on some questions, conditionally accepted yesterday (Tuesday), then today the Director of the History Dept. and my Adviser e-mailed a long personal note of welcome and with additional info. I'm very impressed so far.
I intend to "major" in History (18 credits), and "minor" in both criminal justice and business (9 hours each). This program should help prepare me to teach ...maybe....someday.
And the cost is really low. In fact by convincing my employer of the relevance of the CJ/Business classes they are essentially paying for the entire degree which is around $6000-$7000 over 2 years.
I found my degree, have a plan, can stop worrying and start studying!
Thanks to everyone that helped me make my decision!

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Not a ridiculous amount of indecision. It's a well though out decision. See? Doesn't that sound nicer? Congratulations, by the way. Please keep us informed of your progress. I need to look into WNMU in the d i s t a n t future AFTER I've earned my undergraduate. Best of luck in obtaining your degree.

Cool man!
Don't sweat the indecision. I went through the same thing. I even began studying for the MS-Info Security Assurance at WGU after completing my TESC bachelors coursework. Then at some point I realized I may want to teach some day, like you. The WGU MBA and MS-ISA do not have credits, they have competency units, so I would probably run into trouble trying to teach with those.
So I came across NCU, which has an MBA with CS prefixed courses. Perfect! With NCU I am able to get an MBA and also grab some CS courses for teaching later on. Not to mention, it is at your own pace.
Thats a summary of my thought process and it took a month or so to get there. Anyway, after you commit to the program, it is such a relief isn't it?

Congrats! I know how hard it is to make that leap. As someone who is a classic Virgo, I tend to over analyze everything, so I can totally relate to wanting to get it right! I think you are smart to work it out so your employer will pay for it, and getting 9 credits each in business and CJ you will be close to be able to teach in both of those areas. In fact, some schools may allow you to teach in those areas as is for non-transfer classes, so that gives you 3 teaching areas along with your EMS background and EMT-P you should be able to keep quite busy! I'm so happy for you and all that you have accomplished since arriving here on the forum. Keep us posted on how the new program works out, it sounds like they are very student focused which is really good. Go get em!

Rebel100,
FABULOUS. Don't you love it when a plan comes together? I am so happy for you. It also sounds like the history dept. at WNMU has their act together, which is very cool. Also, the reasoning behind your academic plan is very sound. Best of luck.
