I am projected to get a D on Software Engineering for the January term. This might bring my GPA down below from a 2.7 below a 2.0.
I am not sure what to do at this point because I want to submit the June graduation application.
If I test out of this course through Saylor, would I still earn credit for that course but my grade is still unaffected?

Basically, A letter grade of D won't work for the major, if you can bump that up to a C, that would work for the major (and the English requirements). D's don't work, C- will for gen ed/electives, but will still affect your overall GPA.
My suggestion is to speak with the professor and academic advisor to see what can be done at this point (brownie points or redo of assignments, exams, quizzes, final, etc, projected doesn't mean it will be that score in the end.
If you have the energy, money, time, you may want to repeat the course for a better grade and graduate a semester later... Having an alternative class complete the requirement will give you credit for the class, but it doesn't overwrite the GPA.

That course is pretty easy. I don’t know how you ended up with a D unless you’ve been turning in papers late or not submitting them at all. What happened?
You need at least a C to get AOS credit; otherwise, the course won’t count. And keep in mind, you also need a minimum 2.0 GPA overall.
I recommend talking to the professor and asking if you can resubmit any assignments. Don’t waste too much time reading the book—it’s not really necessary to complete the assignments.
It’s time to switch into crisis mode and do everything you can to pass. TESU offers writing tutor services so definitely take advantage of that.
