Anyone use Rate My Professors .com?
#31
Haven't used them, and don't think I will either, as some may find a class easy, others will differ. I'll just go into the course and power through it. Either way, you get credit with an easy teacher, or harder one, the learning curves still there.

RMP is a valuable tool. I've never actually submitted a review on the site, but I would never register for a class without checking RMP beforehand. Sure, it's not perfect, but if you ignore the lowest 15% of reviews (the people who got on the site just to gripe about getting a low grade, probably because they were lazy and didn't do the work), the highest 15% of reviews (the people who thought everything was unequivocally awesome), and possibly really old reviews, you'll usually get a fair idea of what to expect in the class. Using RMP reviews doesn't eliminate your chances of getting a stinker, but you're a lot more likely to get a good classroom experience when you choose someone who generally gets favorable reviews.

I strongly recommend against choosing professors solely upon their "easiness" - when it comes to education, you get out what you put in. Choosing a hard professor can be especially helpful when you're taking lower-level prerequisites for your major. For example, taking a challenging Introduction to Computer Programming class will make your later classes a lot easier if you go into Computer Science or IT, and taking a rigorous A&P class is good preparation for a nursing/health degree.
Course clear! You got a card.

I have used it, it is good to know what to expect from a teacher.

I have avoided some teachers with terrible reviews, not for being difficult, but things like poor communication or not grading assignments on time.
