Any EC BS in Health Sciences Students Here?

I've decided to stay with EC and go into their BS in Health Sciences program with a certificate in Health Care Management. Is anyone here in this program or completed it? I'm waiting to hear from an advisor in that school with my UNO breakdown but I know I will need about 28 more credits in Arts & Sciences. I'm wondering which ones I can use from CLEP and DSST. Will any that don't duplicate credit work? I would like to start back into testing next week so I was hoping for some suggestions to not waste any more time. I know I have to take stastics too, but I just didn't want to start with that...it scares me! Also did you find any alternative schools to fill some of the health science core or concentration courses? Just trying to save some money and time by not waiting for their courses to start. Thanks in advance for you help!

Arts and Sciences will work. You might want to discuss this with your adviser, but you should have a good deal of freedom in this area to take what you want as long as it doesn't duplicate what you already have. Are you going for both the certificate and the BS? I have only looked at the requirements for the BS once, but if memory serves, they forewarned that CLEP Biology, Chemistry, and other sciences would not count toward the core requirements, but would be part of the degree as arts and science electives.

I would like to start back into testing next week so I was hoping for some suggestions to not waste any more time. I know I have to take stastics too, but I just didn't want to start with that...it scares me!

The DSST Statistics exam is much easier than it's reputation, but if you don't want to go for the exam, there's always Aleks. And if you can finish Aleks in a certain amount of time it is even cheaper than a DSST or a CLEP exam.

BYU has some health courses that might work. I'd advise getting pre-approval from your adviser. BYU courses are generally about half the price of EC courses.

LSU is also very cheap, with courses at $250 each, plus books, but I am not sure what would count toward the degree.

Thanks for the great info! The problem is that since I just finished my AS degree in LA I can't re-apply and get an advisor in the school of health sciences until my degree is conferred and I'm officially out of the school of LA. My LA advisor and I just discussed this this morning. Silly, but I actually have to graduate and no longer be enrolled before I can move to another school! So I have to waste time for the next month or work on my own. That is why I was hoping someone here would be in the program and be able to offer some suggestions. I'm glad to hear the statistics isn't that bad. I'm going to check the other school options to see if they have some courses I can take, because right now every penny helps! Here's my effort at a degree plan for a BS in Health Sciences, with a concentration in Health Management and Education. I'm going to look around for some cheaper substitutions for some of these, and you can mark sixty credits off of this. You probably already have most of the Arts and Sciences area covered with your Associate degree. But this is an idea of what you're up against anyway.

This is the exact thing I'm doing. BS in health sciences with a concentration in management and health education. My employer required me to graduate with my AS degree so I could (hopefully) keep my job. I lost it in December and am teaching part-time. Hopefully, if my last CLEP or UExcel posts this week I may get my job back. Time will tell. Anyway, now I have to reapply into the school of health sciences. I'm wondering if they will allow me to move some of my credits from how they were distributed for my AS degree. I have 5 nursing exams, EC Ethics theory and practice and foundations of gerontology I would like to get applied to the health sciences electives. Because I focused in health sciences because that was my strong suit I also have biology, A&P and microbiology too. My guess is that I'm about 40 credits shy to include arts and sciences and statistics. They had submitted a request for an UNO last week to the school of health sciences but my LA advisor told me today they won't do anything with it until I graduate from their school. Since it is all EC that seems a little silly, but I guess they have a reason. I like your plan. I just hope they can use all my sciences / nursing credits towards the health science electives because the arts & sciences are easier to get via CLEP, DSST or ALEKS. Please let me know if you get any info on some cheaper options for the core classes.

I just started with the degree and trying to figure out what I want to take for my electives. I have contacted an academic advisor, gave her some course titles, and have received approval for the ones I have submitted so far. I am currently studying Psychology of Adulthood and Aging, trying to get back into the swing of studying. Received my ASN last year thru Excelsior. Good luck wth your studies!
