One of my kids went to the TESU site and said it looked to him like you have to be a TESU student to take a TECEP. If he is incorrect, please explain the process.

TCEP is TESU's credit by exam program. It's not a separate entity from the college like DSST or CLEP exams and test-takers do not select a school to send their scores to like with DSSTs/CLEPs. Once enrolled, passing a TCEP would mean credit for the course associated with the TCEP. I suppose then someone could transfer the credit for that course to another college.

Just remember schools get to decide what they accept. While most schools are probably fine with TECEPs some may not be....check first.

You do have to register for the TECEP exams just like you are registering for a course, which means that you need an account with them. I think you can just call them directly and ask about it.
The one issue I know of is that it's more expensive to take it as a non-matriculated student, and that's probably what you want to do. So keep that in mind.

I didn't realize that...when I was enrolled I registered for the TCEP like it was a class. I guess a transcript would show the credits and then applied by another school. But like a previous poster said, get that approved ahead of time and in writing.
