Wow, congrats. Thanks for posting all the details too, I think it can help some of us down the road. I would be terrified in front of a 5 person panel, but it sounds like you blew them away!

Good luck with the new position Smile

Marianne and Burbuja, You guys know how much I value your wise council. It's not a stretch to say that I probably wouldn't be where I am without you guys and IC in my corner...Thank you!

Thanks to everyone, I appreciate every one of you Smile

I'm glad this post has been well received. I know most of us are here ultimately because we want to better our lives and circumstances. The degree is, for many, a large part of that. It is just one part though. So many elements must be properly combined to reach our goals. Today for example I am off to shop for a new wardrobe. As a medic I only had to show up with a clean uniform, I don't have the clothes for this new job! But dressing the part will make a big difference.

We should put together a series on getting hired, and keeping your job! lol!

KeithK and Laterbloomer, remember that the panel has come together to hear about you and decide who can best help the company fulfill it's mission. I kind of enjoy having a captive audience that digests my every word. Think of it as a position of power and authority...after all there is no better authority on what you can do than you! Smile

I'm off to the Mall.....uuuggghhhh, rather stay home and finish aleks than go do this!

FAN-Tastic!! That's a great story, and thank you for posting it. It think sometimes people only think that the credential is what gets the job, but you demonstrated how you set yourself above the other candidates. Like you said, one PART of the package. Way to go and enjoy your new position!

Congrats again.

About the 5 member interview. Our interview process begins with a quick phone call by the hiring manager, then a phone screen by 2 technical leads, then the candidate is invited in for a face to face interview. At this point we bring in more people but we do not require every person to say, yes hire this person. It is a way to bring in people with different roles in the company and different perspectives. It also helps to ease the transition to the team since the employees feel they have met the person.

We do get technical in our interview process but it is all for the benefit of the team and the person being interviewed. We really do not like having to let people go two months after being hired because they are incapable of performing their job duties, so a good thorough interview process with as many people as possible is in order.

I'm thinking about an MBA from here: Online Master of Business Administration If i have to pay out of pocket ENMU is a no brainer, cheapest accredited MBA I can find its under 7K if done part time over 2 years, and still very cheap even if full time.

I like the Business Management Masters from Minot State MSU - College of Business araound 10-12k, and the Masters in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State Global Campus Organizational Leadership - Online Education Degree Programs & College Courses - CSU-Global Campus around 15K. Both of those are contenders. I think the MBA is the more versatile choice though.

Ryoder is ticking right through his Masters at National...I like the self paced format...if my employer will foot the bill, and I think they will, I will have to re-examine my options.
