Andrew Jackson University-Sponsored Tuition Termination-Update!
#21
Shawn A Wrote:If the NA degree will work for you (and Jennifer has done a great job in her summation), I would highly recommend AJU - esp. if you can get in with the sponsored tuition deal. I was an adjunct for AJU for 2+ years. I taught Org Behavior and Strategic Leadership. The course materials were first rate, rigorous, etc.

Shawn REALLY??? How did I miss that, or maybe you never said? Huh. Well, I respect your opinion greatly, so getting your stamp of approal is a thumbs up for me.
My husband might (probably) launder his MBA credits into APUS or Ashford since he would really like to do more teaching. I'll play it by ear, but unless I hear from my (new) industry that RA vs NA means something, I'll be saving my cash for my nurse practitioner degree.

I mentioned it at DI a few times - I had to stop because between FT work, doctoral studies, family, it was just too much. I plan to look for some adjunct work next fall - and I'll contact them.

I am curious of how enrollment will look at AJU after sponsored tuition ends - because then, they're just another DETC school...

Yes, I wonder too. And unless they lower their tuition, they won't be competitive. For grad work, APUS is a lot cheaper and they have RA and NA- not to mention even schools like WNMU just dominate in terms of price. For undergrad credit, at $300+ it's a joke. I'd like to see what their next move is.

my daughter is 5 courses away from her Undergrad graduation in May this year.

if we apply to AJU this week and pay the 75bucks app fee, can she grab a spot under the outgoing sponsored Tuition?

I started looking into this and talked to admissions today. The good news is they will take my credits from bob jones university!! (35) the negative is I can only bring in 30 of the clep, dsst and Fema. So the way I am looking at this is I will be ahead 16 credits. But the negative is I can not take any more Clep or Dsst. What to do, What to do???

It's a bigger question. What will your undergrad degree do for you? What field do you hope to work in? Are you "mature" or a young person just starting out?
Generally speaking, unlimited CLEP is better than pulling credit in from BJU because CLEP is transferred to other RA schools- while the BJU (and a degree from AJU) won't be.
Credits earned from AJU will be JUST LIKE your credits from Bob Jones should you later decide to transfer again, or should you decide to get a master's degree, you will be in the exact same spot.
I'm not downing AJU, and I'm not downing BJU. Had you graduated from BJU, you wouldn't even know about RA/NA degrees....but this degree (for me) comes as an optional degree for my industry- and only after my RA undergrads. Much more to consider than transferring in your BJU classes. (I also have an NA degree of 63 credits that didn't transfer anywhere, I understand your frustration) Just think long and hard. Don't trade what you want right now for what you want in the long run.

I currently hold a Nursing Home Administrators License. This is the industry I am planning on staying in. I need the 4 year degree so I can obtain my license in other states and promote up in the company (RVPO). This would have been a lot easier if I could have just finished back in the 90's when I was in school.

Ok, I know this is the last day for the sponsored tuition deal. If anyone can answer this question it would be awesome!

I was wanting to go to AMU for their Masters in Emergency and Disaster Management. I had some financial aid opportunities that just fell through yesterday. My big problem now is that I didn't look ahead to a Masters when I was doing my BS and I have no GPA with TESC so getting any type of scholarship will be fairly impossible. There are scholarships out there for my degree path and my gender specifically.

My question: If I took a couple of classes at Andrew Jackson would that give me a GPA past my BS that I could use to get scholarships? I would want to finish out my degree at AMU or another RA school because my main goal is to teach online classes.

I spoke with the gal in admissions and she said I had until Monday to apply. I think I'm gonna go for it! I will be taking a couple classes for the Masters in Public Administration. As far as I can tell they're a perfect match for a couple classes in the AMU Masters of Emergency and Disaster Management.

It looks to me like AJU has updated their site with new tuition rates.
