It will be multiple choice on the test. There are five possible selections for each of the questions during the exam.
REA's practice tests are in the same format as the real thing in this regard. The way IC uses "fill in the blanks," though less like the real test, is more difficult, and therefore prepares you better for the CLEP.
Happy studying!

Yes, it is multiple choice. If you get the REA clep book, it will have actual examples of what the test questions are like, including the multiple choice part.

It is multiple choice....CLEP has 5 possible answers.....DANTES has 4 possible answers on the actual test.

Aside from the number of answer choices, DSST/Dantes Tests always offer 3 credits, must be taken at specific centers, and sometimes even offer upper level credit. The passing score differs for DSSTs. Some use a 20 to 80 system like CLEP with a pass anywhere from 46 to 49. The revised tests score on a scale of 100 (?) to 500 with 400 being a pass.
At one time, Dantes tests were only available to the military. Thankfully, that has since changed.

The videos on this website really helped out. I passed both exams going over the flashcards twice and watching the videos.
Good luck,

Welcome to the forum!
I saw that you asked elsewhere if this exam is multiple choice. I think all CLEPs are multiple-choice tests (a few also have an essay). I know that US History I and II were completely multiple choice.
This was my first exam; I studied for 6 weeks; I probably could have passed after 2 weeks of study.
Since my version of the test was computer-based, I assume that they have a pool of questions and can change the test for each test-taker. I don't know if that is true, though.
