American History I...CLEP exam? The minimum passing score from ACE is 50, I don't know any college that accepts a score lower then what ACE recommends.

The only CLEPs that I have seen a lower score accepted are the languages. A university back in MI accepts a 46 for 4 credits

That's a pity about U.S History 1, You'll need to schedule a re-sit of this exam in more than six months time. It is one of the easier exams so make sure you prepare for the next one by using instantcert, REA practice exams and maybe even a few Peterson's test prep exams to get you prepared. This method of self-education is worth it, although it requires more effort at times than just taking a class it will save you a ton of money over the long haul if you prepare properly. You'll notice some people preparing for an exam here in a week, that isn't normal we have some exceptional people on here. REA recommends four weeks of study two hours per day for U.S History 1 using their books alone. Check out College Credit for Less for some good pointers towards the U.S History exam. Review the exam specific replies when you subscribe to Instantcert plus some other suggestions here.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

If you decide to re-take the exam, you can check out the Specific Exam Feedback (a sub-forum on the main page of this forum) which you get access to when you pay the $20/mo for Instantcert. It has tons of pages where members have posted their thoughts on the exam and what resources they used to study. It's well worth the $20 in my opinion. Also, many people suggest that you use more than one study resource in order to make sure you cover everything. For me, personally, I like to use the flashcards and then use some sort of videos to switch up my studying so I'm not constantly memorizing/reading.

Don't give up! Keep trying! I know you can do it!

Instacert should be used a study aid but never the only study aid. Buy a used textbook and read it through. They can be found for $5 online.

Just took the US History II today, I only used InstantCert and a Practice CLEP app I bought/downloaded on my iPad. I got a 68.
However, I've always done well in history type courses. (I took Western Civ at a college then transferred to a University and they required US history instead of Western Civ)

I doubt any accredited college is going to accept a score under 50. In fact, my University recently raised the passing score to a 60 for the US History/Western Civ exams.
