Am I the only one who struggles with Aleks?
#21
I would have to disagree there... I was able to do Beginning and Intermediate with no problem. However, College Algebra was kicking me right back down. I finally bit the bullet and took it at SL and passed in 2 days with non-stop testing. I suppose it's subjective based on the person taking it, but I didn't think College Algebra was easier than Intermediate.

af2012 Wrote:I'm tackling Aleks Intermediate Algebra right now but it's slow going. I started out at 4% on my initial test & after 8 hrs of doing exercises & screen shotting my heart out, I'm up to 11% on my last eval. From what I'm seeing on this thread Aleks College Algebra is easier than Aleks Intermediate Algebra, is that correct?

Since I only need 3 credits and it seems like the College Algebra is still accepted by TESC, do you think I should just switch to Aleks College Algebra instead?

Intermediate algebra is actually high school math (at least in my opinion); college algebra is much harder.

Have you tried to use mathway.com (free) to help with the problems?

Well, no I've actually been doing them the old fashioned way, pencil & paper. Basically I've been clicking on the first thing to go over & hitting the explain button to get the answer the first time, screen shotting it, pasting into Word, then doing the next three practice examples on paper until it tells me I can click Done & move onto the next thing to learn.

Should I be doing this another way? I thought that after the initial eval it will only give me retests only after doing so many problems. I was under the impression that the evals were for helping Aleks know where I stand so it knows what topics to cover next. And then after I get at least a 70% of the whole pie "done" I can submit this to ACE for credit.

af2012,

There are countless aleks threads that explain the strategy. Do a quick search on the forum.
