Is the ALEKS program free? If so, how do I sign up for it? Lastly, Is it worth it the cost if not free?

ALEKS isn't free. The price is $20 per month (sometimes a coupon will be available, but not often). At $20 per month, if you can complete three credit granting courses in the month ( or two), you will have 9 credits at a cost of $2.22 per credit. Well worth the cost. Even if you take 6 months, that is still crazy cheap. Your school has to grant ACE credit though, so make sure with your school first that they will accept ALEKs math for credit.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I totally think it's worth it, even if you only did 1 course in a month. But, if you were really rusty on something, and wanted to make sure that you got the maximum units in the minimum amount of time, I would use KhanAcademy to take the courses first, and then go to ALEKS and sign up and get the credits. KhanAcademy is free, and similar to ALEKS.
So, if you wanted to get credits for College Algebra, you might take Khan's Algebra I and Algebra II, then go take ALEKS' Intermediate Algebra, send the credits to ACE, and then take College Algebra, and send the credits to ACE. You could probably do those in just a day or two each. If you wanted to go further, there's Precalculus and Statistics on both platforms.
You don't HAVE to use Khan to take ALEKS courses, it's just a way to bypass taking the full course on ALEKS and getting through it quickly and cheaply to get the ACE credit you want/need.

ALEKS is a Math program offered by McGraw Hill ( the people who make all the text books in the world it feels like)
They offer a way to learn math all the way from kindergarten to college
the courses that they are referring to are ACE approved and count for college credit the courses offered are
Beginning Algebra - 3 CR
Intermediate Algebra - 3 CR
College Algebra or College Algebra with Trig ( over laps) - 3 CR
Pre-cal or College Trig (overlaps) - 3 CR
Intro to statistics, Business Statistics, Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences ( overlaps) 3 CR
How it works is you pay $20/month to access their entire program, you can get as many courses as you want in the month.
You take a pre-test, I think it was about 30 questions ( take your time this will determine how long the actual course will be) after your pre-test they will give you a pie chart showing your strengths and weaknesses based off the pre-test, if 70% of the pie is already filed up...IE you did really well I in the pretest.. you are finished with the course and can submit for ACE approval. If you scored low on the pretest, you will have to raises it one section at a time.. takes forevvvver XD. (still less than an 8 week course)
oh.... and I'd look up Mathway while you're at it

I just looked at the ACE website and did not find ALEKS (or McGraw Hill) listed on their National Guide. I ran across some earlier postings from 2013 saying ALEKS had lost their ACE recommendation and was waiting on re-evaluation process. The last comment in that post stated that ALEKS was back on ACE website, but l did not find them there this evening.

I do not use the National Guide, as it's crap. You need to do an actual course search. Not sure if there's a different way to do it, but I can do it when I log into my account. You can find the organization and all of the courses they have, along with the date they're certified through. ALEKS is definitely there when I do the search that way, but not when you're in the National Guide portion, even if you do a course search (ALEKS comes up then, but none of the courses do).

You have to actually log into your ACE account as if you are adding a course for approval. If you do not have an account, create one. Once logged in, do a course search (tab on the left of screen). Then on the organization name type in ALEKS and it will populate with "ALEKS Corporation (McGraw Hill)". Click search and then 9 classes will show up, which are all good until 11/30/16.
