Ok, so I signed up for Alex, it says my plug in or download was complete. So I go to Aleks and log in, throws me to my account. How in the world do I get started by taking the assessment? Does Aleks know what I signed up for? I mentioned college algebra. So when I log in, what do I do next? I'm lost here.

You're going to have to choose a course. If you don't know how to do that then contact the aleks people on their website. Don't worry about the assesment. The program will automatically assess you after you make a certain amount of progress. You're going to also have to set up an account at Ace https://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseacti...ripts.main -go there and set up an account. After you hit 70% or better on your assessment for a course log into your ace account and hit "Course Search". Then locate the course, click on the course and hit the button that says "add to transcript". Then you're done. Once you're finished with all your ALEKS courses you can hit the "request transcript" on the ACE website after you've logged in and for $20, ACE will send your transcript to the school of your choice.

You have two accounts. The first account is the Master Account. That's probably where you are. The Master Account is where you select the course for the student, edit billing, can see their progress, and issue an assessment as time goes on.
Have you added a student? I'll apologize ahead of time for not remembering exactly how to do that, but I'm pretty sure there is that option on the Master Account screen.
When you create your second account (user number 1) that is the Student Account. Remember that the Master is like the teacher, and from that page you can see allllllll your students, so in your case, you'll just have one. So, even if you ARE the student, the Student Account is where the student does work. The Master Account is all the admin stuff.
Before you can pick a class, you have to have a student to enroll in that class (do this in the Master Account). So, create the student, then pick their class. Be SURE that it is in the category "Higher Education" when you find College Algebra, you don't want to accidently select a high school class. Those are not for college credit!
This may seem awkward at first- hopping between 2 accounts, but you'll get the hang of it in no time. One last tip, use different login/user names for the student/master so you can choose the correct one from the drop down each day when you begin.
Let's see how that goes, if you need more help, let me know.
I hope that gets you on the right track.

Yes, I figured that out right after I mentioned it here. It was the case of the second account, the student, or ME! Maybe at one time, I could have done a very good assessment, and scored high, but that is nowhere near the case. I'm like 10 areas out of 300 plus in my assessment, it's gonna take me a long time to do this. If I get 5 modules done per day, out of some 350 modules, that's like 70 days, or what???? Maybe 3 months if I'm lucky? Some of these are kicking my butt all ready. Hey, i'm not complaining. I think of it like doing crossword puzzles, in which I too am not good at!!!

Wow, I'm sure I've forgotten lots of stuff, but what I'm a bit surprised about is how much I actually remember. This is more like a refresher. Going through scratch paper like the bear going through charmin. So as I fill in this "PIE" and it hits 70% of the pie, this means that ACE accepts this as credit? I won't ask questions yet on this, since I got a ways to go, but eventually, I may need help in how to bring the credits over to Ace. At least a reminder later on.

When you hit 70% or more, STOP. If you're not sure what to do after that for the credits and can't find it at ALEKS, ask here and one of us will be happy to help. Btw, check out Mathway.com. It'll help walk you through how to do a problem you're stuck on.

If I recall correctly, you do not have to wait for ALEKS to provide a random assessment. In the Master account, you can tell the system to provide an assessment to the student's account. Good luck.

I made the mistake of thinking that once I filled up the pie chart to 70% via the Learning Mode, I was done. I applied for credit and then was informed that I had to get 70% or higher on the assessment. That was a bit frustrating, so, though I'm sure you already know that, I just wanted to clarify that so nobody makes the same mistake.

Well, shoot, I thought once you learned 70% of the course, you got the credit, didn't know there would be a final assessment, so that kind of does make sense. Wow, that makes it even tougher.

Wow, that makes it even tougher. Well, if you've learned 70% of the course, then it shouldn't be too hard to get a 70% or better on the assessment. That's the beauty of ALEKs.
