Math 105 on ALEKS for TESU BALS degree
#11
CarpeDiem8 Wrote:ALEKS question:

If I complete the pie at the Intermediate Algebra level, what happens after that? Another assessment for the 70% or nothing at all and I get credit?

Thanks!

I wouldn't waste time trying to complete the pie, I would do assessment and work on the pie a bit, then force another assessment.
As long as the 70% is coming from the final assessment, you're gold, you get that to ACE for credit right away then work on the next course.
I did this for Beginner-Intermediate-College Algebra, Precalculus and Trigonometry. I even tried all 3 STATS for two months, but failed badly.

Right now I have 322 topics remaining. Still so much!

Another assessment will not be as long as the initial assessment, correct?

It depends. Assessments are longer if you get questions wrong.

I found that completing different sections of the pie was a better fit for my learning style. Each topic got progressively easier as I went along. Then, I went to the next slice of pie that I had the highest grade in, and completed that. Again, it got easier.

After a while, it just seemed to get easier. Also, if you're really strong in a few areas, it kind of makes up for the weaker areas.

I did not find completing the pie a waste of time. Honestly, I just did the course, and didn't force assessments. I got done fairly quickly (a few days). When I started, my score was very low, so no amount of forcing a new assessment was going to get me to 70% - but working through the different sections did.

If ALEKS is off the table, the new DSST exam is equal to MAT105 http://getcollegecredit.com/assets/pdf/d..._Sheet.pdf
