Penn Foster Info
#1
I recently decided to take Art Appreciation and Music Appreciation through Penn Foster to fill some Liberal Arts Gen Ed Electives I need with TESC. I like it much more than I thought I would. They are interesting and quick especially since these two courses do no have a proctor requirement. Also, even though they are move than straighter line you can make payments on them. When you finish paying they release the credits.

My question is does anyone know of any other courses that might fall into Gen Ed Electives that do not have a proctor? It is hard to find out what courses have proctors and ones that do not without enrolling in the course first. I know just ask Penn Foster, but that is the main drawback. No one at Penn Foster seems to know what is going on or they just hold back that info so you will enroll in the courses.

Can you not just enroll in the course you want and then get a full refund once you find out it doesn't have a proctor?

How long did these two PF courses take you to complete? This does sound interesting.

I just took Art Appreciation at PF. There are 6 exams and 1 final.. all open book and non-proctored. You also have to participate in 4 discussions.. you just have to write a paragraph about a topic and post it on the discussion board (it's not graded).

The only complaint I have is that it took over 2 weeks for PF to ship the textbook (which is free/included with tuition). I took the exams over the weekend and finished the course at 100%. Once you have the book you can easily complete the course in a day or two.

Overall, it's an easy A to help with GPA and meets the Literature and Fine Arts requirement at COSC... so you can't go wrong.
