Good afternoon,
I'm wanting to complete a bachelor's degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management at either TESU or Excelsior. I've completed most of the basic LL courses (English, History, etc) at Straighterline.
I actually had my transcripts evaluated by Excelsior, and I only have 40 credits needed to get the degree there! Of course 30 of those are UL courses.
Does anyone have any recommendations for UL credit?
For Excelsior I need all UL:
Intro to Homeland Security
Emergency Management
Domestic Terrorism
Research Methods in Criminal Justice or Comparative National Security Analysis
Infrastructure Security and Policy
Intro to Corrections
Criminal Justice Administration
Criminal Procedure and Evidence
For TESU I need:
Terrorism
Counterterrorism
Homeland Security
Protecting the Homeland
Research Methods in the Social Sciences
and 5 from this mix:
White Collar Crime
Victimology and Criminal Behavior
Public Policy, Crime and Criminal Justice
Management Information Systems
Interpersonal Communications
Elements of Intercultural Communication
War and American Society
Organizational Behavior
International Relations I
Conflict in International Relations
Introduction to Social Psychology
Introduction to Counseling
Gangs
Games People Play: Game Theory in Life, Business and Beyond
Challenges in U.S. and Global Public Health
Deliberative Democracy and Social Action
Integrating Public Safety and Homeland Security
Concepts of Emergency Management
However, I'm not sure how many from TESU need to be UL.
Any advice is appreciated and welcome. I have done some searching, but haven't found much. Unfortunately, not a lot of info on the forum for this degree either.
Thanks!

So you can take these five at study.com victimology, white collar crimes, interpersonal Communication, social pyschology, and management information systems. There's probably more but those five stuck out to me.

Check out Lumerit: https://lumerit.com/courses
Look at the Criminal Justice Section. They have some that might work. However, I'd recommend asking an advisor at each school how they transfer and if they come in as UL first.
Study.com Courses and how they transfer to TESU
Criminal Justice 101: Intro to Criminal Justice (LL TESU)
Criminal Justice 104: Introduction to Criminology (LL TESU)
Criminal Justice 106: Forensic Science (LL TESU)
Criminal Justice 107: Criminal Law (LL TESU)
Criminal Justice 301: White Collar Crime (LL TESU)
Criminal Justice 305: The Juvenile Justice System (UL TESU)
Criminal Justice 306: Research Methods in Criminal Justice (LL TESU)
Criminal Justice 381: Victimology (UL TESU)
It doesn't really say much on the Excelsior transfer guide, it doesn't list of those courses transfer and what they transfer as.
I might be missing some by here is how to get some of the other courses you listed:
Management Information Systems- study.com, Davar, DSST test
Interpersonal Communications- study.com, Uexcel
Organizational Behavior- Davar, DSST, study.com
Introduction to Social Psychology- Uexcel, study.com, ed4credit
Introduction to Counseling- DSST

TESU need 15cr of UL in the AOS +capstone (so 18cr UL total), and nothing throughout the rest of the degree.
EDIT TO ADD: I haven't checked dates or whether the courses are all still offered or ACE-recommended for a while, so you'll need to check anything except Study.com.

Since the entire name of the course is Protecting the Homeland, Response and Recovery, TESU might accept the CSU Global SSA for Disaster Response or Disaster Recovery.

If you happen to be military or DOD affiliated and have a CAC card you can try taking a few free courses from Center for the Development of Security Excellence (CDSE). These 5 are completely online, non-proctored, and are evaluated by ACE as security/homeland security/terrorism. Each are evaluated at 3 credits LL, except 1. The Counterintelligence Awareness Cert is evaluated as 4 UL. Grand total: 16. Good Luck!

Not particularly. I have a background in safety and emergency training design in higher education. I currently work in higher education, and I've worked in other areas of government in the past. My educational background consists of a B.S. in Public Administration and an M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology. I've taken an extreme interest in furthering my education to include a degree in Emergency Management/Homeland Security. My job aligns well with training departments at FEMA, etc. I suppose that's my dream job; to do training for FEMA. I'm in my late 20's, so I have time. I am involved in my local CERT and have a slight obsession with public service and safety. Especially on college and university campuses. That was probably more info than you cared to know!

That is all cool. With CERT you can attend EMI in Maryland for free. Also at your local level can take 60+ TEEX courses in EM. Many other FEMA schools as well.
The reason I asked as being military with lots of Gov't EM schools I found Excelsior took my ACE EM credits and TESU did not as core subjects. I applied to both. Everyone has different backgrounds.
Keep us updated on your EM journey.
