Accounting Classes From LSU Or Thomas Edison
#1
I have completed almost 3 years of my accounting degree and need 1 more of mostly accounting classes. I have checked out both Thomas Edison and LSU Online and was wondering if anybody has taken any accounting courses from either school. I noticed that the LSU online courses are about $400 each whereas the TESC courses are about $645 even if your enrolled. However, I spoke to a lady at LSU and you pretty much study a book on your own without much media or visuals to interact or look at. Has anybody taken accounting courses from either school and have recommendations/suggestions? I know you can't graduate from LSU, but I though I might save myself some money by taking classes from them and then transferring my credits to TESC and graduate.

People on here have taken the LSU accounting classes and have transferred them to TESC. I plan on doing that myself here shortly.

ACCT 2001–Introductory Financial Accounting —Prerequisite for ACCT 2101. Can not be fulfilled by the CLEP or DSST.
ACCT 2101–Introductory Managerial Accounting — Prerequisite for ACCT 3001
ACCT 3001–*Intermediate Accounting I — Prerequisite for ACCT 3021
ACCT 3021–Intermediate Accounting II

For an accounting degree at TESC, all those courses are required.
*NOTE: There is an advised prerequisite for 3001, Business Calculus (MATH 1431) but it is not required.

ACCT 2001, ACCT 3001, and ACCT 3021 are all online classes. You will not need to submit a proctor for approval. The exams are conducted by an online proctor, Proctor U. There is a timeframe, I can’t recall but it’s something like 8 or 12 weeks per class.

ACCT 2001 and ACCT 2101 are independent courses that will require you to find a proctor and there is a 9 month completion time. You work completely on your own and I believe you can submit up to 3 ungraded assignments per week.

You’ll notice that ACCT 2001 has the option for both an online course and as an independent course.

One more word on this. When I was at Thomas Edison, it was an advisor who mentioned LSU as a possibility for coursework in Physics. You will not be going wrong with the LSU courses and they work much better for a busy schedule because you can work out the times. If they are not fully online you may need a proctor, however you would also need one for Edison courses, so I think its a great option steal, from a school with a history and good reputation for providing distance learning. Thomas Edison and LSU are pretty good for distance learning.
Cool

.....

Be sure to double-check on whether the homework assignments are graded or not. Mine are for calculus and it can make a difference for the overall grade.

One thing to throw in here... if you're considering becoming a CPA, check with your state's requirements if you haven't already. It could very well influence where you take your courses, and what courses you choose.
