ASU credit for $99 until 08-17-2020!
(07-11-2020, 12:55 AM)rachel83az Wrote: According to https://www.tesu.edu/admissions/transfer-credit, AST 111 transfers in as 3 credits: AST 101 for 3 credits. But depending on how the ASU transcript is, it may also include AST 113 which would transfer into TESU as AST 119, a 1-credit lab.

I've asked registrar office a couple of weeks ago, because I hope to fill the science with lab requirement at COSC with this class.
I've been told that astronomy will appear as a 3-credit class and 1-credit lab on ASU transcript. Same goes for the chemistry class.

Correct. Someone sent me their ASU transcript from taking it last year. It’s a 3cr course plus 1 cr lab, listed separately.

Anybody have any idea how to use ASU's proctoring service? I've been with tech support for the last hour and no luck. I have Windows 10 pro and just did a new installation. This happened to me last time but I just took the test and their proctoring service was fine with me using chrome on my computer it seems.
Their PSI secure browser does not display the exam. I've downloaded flash like they ask.

Which browser are you using? I think I had to use Chrome for it to work.

You don't do the exam in the browser itself. You open the browser, you verify, then you leave the browser running while you complete the exam in the same window you copied the code from. I usually use Chrome but to be extra safe I installed Flash for other browsers and use FF when using RPNow.

Firefox, copy code -> System check/download & install browser -> Room scan & verification in PSI browser -> Firefox, click exam button.

It sounds like you did it correctly last time. The PSI browser monitors your screen and computer activity to make sure that you're not cheating. I've completed 4 ASU exams so far and haven't had any problems.

Ok thank you for that. Both tech support guys that I have interacted with from RPnow don't really know what they are doing I guess. One of them is still going through my computer trying to launch the exam from the secure browser.
This is what Tech support just told me after I asked if I'm supposed to use the secure browser for the exam "You are prompted to to download the software which leads to me believe that it should be used to take the exam."
Thanks for the info I was just worried that ASU would not approve of that.
Tech support just asked if I could call ASU to verify how we are supposed to be using this software.

I was using their secure browser that you are prompted to download. I also downloaded flash and installed a fresh copy of Windows on an SSD. Last time I took this exam that laptop decided that it needed to update itself and with a regular hard drive it slowed to a crawl.
Thanks for the tip I'll go ahead and do that. I used Chrome last time but I deal with Tech support for around 30 mins who told me to just go ahead and finish my exam.

It's weird though when I tried to download their browser using Chrome it worked. If I tried my default internet explorer it didn't download properly hopefully it gets fixed soon

I can confirm that this is the exact flow to use. I've successfully completed five exams at ASU EA. I'd echo the suggestion to use Firefox as that has always seemed to work the best on the EA platform for me.

You don't download or install any PSI/secure browser program ahead of time. This seems to confuse a lot of people. The "start system check" link downloads a one-time-use executable version of the proctoring software that you'll use to take that exam.

I had the same issue. After multiple tech support people (with varying levels of competence), we figured out that the proctoring system doesn't work with 10 Pro, only with the standard version of Windows 10. There's some extra security protocol (???) In 10 Pro that prevents their software from functioning.

I have some four letter words to describe such a ridiculous situation that leaves only Windows 8 and Windows 10 standard users able to take their ASU exams, but it is what it is. I had 98% and 95% averages in the lead-up to the exams, and had to abandon both courses due to the proctoring company ASU uses. I suggested to ASU that they clarify the wording on their courses to make clear that users with 8 and 10 Pro versions of Windows cannot complete their courses, but I see no change has been made.

ASU did say that there are three courses that require no proctoring, so if your reason for this is to apply for a degree, you can still complete the minimum of 3 for Earned Admission. Otherwise, the suggestion was to borrow a laptop from a friend - during a time of lockdown, I'm not sure this is such a great idea, and for me it just wasn't an option.

It's too bad that you got the run-around from the tech support people who have absolutely no idea what they're doing but this is absolutely not true. I took my Astronomy exam with Windows 10 Pro and had no issues whatsoever aside from the slight confusion (like others) where I expected the exam to display IN the PSI browser when you actually take it in your regular browser instead. It's not very clear that this is what you're supposed to do but that is, indeed, what you're supposed to do. I was mildly scared that I'd done something wrong and that it wouldn't count but it was fine. And that's exactly how it works in Windows 10 Home as well.
