Excellent, that's what I was hoping for. Thanks for the confirmation on that.

Hey, glad I told y'all. I didn't know this many would sign in!
Yes, Publius, I HAVE said a lot of negative things on ALEKS, but like I said, 2 months free is always a good deal! I hope you guys are all able to get most, if not all, of the required study in, before the 2 months is up, and maybe get 3 FREE credits, for once! Smile
Just a note while I'm thinking of it; If you go overtime, and pay $20 for another month, remember to discontinue your membership with ALEKS when you're done (after you send in the credits for your test to ACE), because ALEKS will automatically charge you $20 more, when the months payment ends.

Yes, I did mention that it was for home schoolers at the beginning, and I assumed you were, sorry about that.

Thank you for the link. Did anyone's sign up work?
I'm a total newbie, just signed up for TESC, fin.aid forms in, all transcripts requested (4 colleges, all over 30 yrs ago.)
Free ALEKS would be a great way to start. I've been reading as much as I can here, this forum has been such a help. Thank you all.

Yes, I signed up for the 2 month free trial and have been working on Int. Algebra since Monday. I actually emailed ALEKS on Monday and asked if I could get my code so that I could get started because I am on a time schedule and I received the email with the code a few hours later. So I don't know if they sent mine out earlier than the 3-5 business days because I asked or if they had been ready to send it out anyway.

Anyway, to answer your question, yes it works, but only if you are a homeschooler! Good luck!

Thank you, Horsemaniac. I did sign up, waiting on email. Does the homeschooler designation mean you can only connect with the 'homeschool' section, not the section for 'students'? I don't know the difference, but as long as I can get my math courses for free, I'll be a happy camper. Any procedure I should be aware of, so it goes through okay? Do you still get transferable credit? (I know the beginning alg. is not for credit, but I do need the refresher.) I haven't had an algebra class since the 60's, so I'm starting with beginning and intermediate alg., working up to college algebra. I'm reading a textbook while waiting. Thanks for the advice, it's a real help.

Yes, you definitely get transferable college credit, whether you work as a homeschooler or a student. Your scores (when you reach 70%) must be sent to ACE, which will validate the credits for you.

You're welcome. I'm not quite sure about the homeschool vs. student sections either, but I didn't have a problem with it. When I logged in for the first time I just selected intermediate algebra as the course. When you finish the course (or get to 70%) you need to go here https://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseacti...ripts.main and sign up (It's free!) and then request to add the ALEKS course to your transcript. They are very fast about getting it approved. I finished intermediate algebra on Friday and by Friday evening it was approved. You have to pay money when you request a paper transcript sent to your school, but it's free to keep adding classes to it until then. Another thing, I couldn't get ALEKS to work when I was using Mozilla Firefox. I had to use Internet Explorer. Just an FYI!

Have fun!
