Educational Psychology CLEP
#1
Hi,
I'm taking the Intro to Ed Psych CLEP test next week and I'm feeling very overwhelmed. Has anyone taken it recently that can offer helpful tips?

What is overwhelming you? Have you read the specific exam feedback. These exams do not change often so it is probably the same as when I took it 2 years ago. It is a lot of normal Psych info with a little more tilt toward children and education. What are you using to study?

I used the Instantcert flashcards and got a 70, but I had already taken a few psychology tests and courses before it. What the flashcards did not cover are recent educational trends from the past 10 years of so like setting up desks a certain way in the classroom. I think it was someone in the Specific Feedback forum who said to look those up. I just made educated guesses based on my experience as a teacher's assistant.

I took Intro to Ed Psych (72) after Intro Psych (75) and H G & D (69). My main resources were the REA Guide, Peterson's Tests and a recommended Ed Psych text I purchased used from Amazon - "Psychology for Teaching" by Guy R. LeFrancois. I had no particular interest in Ed Psych (other than completing the 3 CLEP Psych tests) but the textbook was quite interesting and helpful. I studied for about 1 month following H G & D.

My brain isn't "wired" for fill-in-the-blanks so I didn't use IC, but I know from many others the IC flashcard system is very helpful. I would definitely use the REA book (I love using the TestWare CD as it mimics the actual test experience) and then the Peterson's exams. If you did well on the two previous CLEP Psych tests I think you'll be fine. Good Luck!
