Im currently enrolled in Excelsior College Math, and the word college shouldnt even be in it.there is no homework required. there are a total of 12, ten question quizes and a 50 question midterm and final, all online, none are proctored. It was so easy I finished 1/2 the course in a week, although you can only turn in two quizes a week. It was almost pathetic that they call it college math, but alas its 3 credits in college math. This may be an option for you.

Wow! Sounds like the way to go. Thanks for posting that.
Anyone know if the Excelsior Statistics course is similar?
I took Intermediate Algebra at my local university last year and it was like scratching my fingernails on the chalkboard the entire semester. Boo math!

I'm like you Ive been out of school for 30 years. I opted not to CLEP the college math and take a "regular course" since I figured It had been too long since I've taken any math. Im currently enrolled in Excelsior College Math, and the word college shouldnt even be in it. It starts out with addition and subtraction covers percentages, measurement, basic geometry, signed numbers and finally intro to algebra. there is no homework required. there are a total of 12, ten question quizes and a 50 question midterm and final, all online, none are proctored. How much is the Excelsior course and is it open to begin at anytime. I will need to get 3 credits in science to satisfy my graduation requirements and Iam thinking about astronomy on the dsst board. I have taken and passed the Save The Planet and Geology dsst courses. It only needs to be a 3 credit science so...if you or anyone else has a great suggestion, I will be forever grateful to say the least. Thanks once again for the advise and support!!

There is a site called
http://www.learner.org for teachers on the internet. It has a bunch of resources to aid in teaching. Some of these are videos are on math and statistics. I used the one on statistics to help me pass the Dantes statistics exam. I am weak in math and managed to get an A on the exam. The site is free, you just have to register in order to use it. When you get to the site, browse by dicipline and select mathematics. Good luck and keep going, your almost done.

Chosin01,
I may go your suggested route with Excelsior. Is the duration a full traditional semester?
Thanks very much for your suggestion. I'm new here but can tell by the team oriented candor everyone has that this environment has a great deal to offer. Glad to be here.

Auto,
Welcome to the board. We like to think of ourselves as each other's virtual class mates so when we get down there's always someone to encourage and when we do well we get to share our joy (and any insights we glean from our experiences). Looking forward to hearing more about your study pursuits!

You know, it may be worth your time to call excelsior and ask if it's too late to 'Late Register' for the College Math class. Even if you missed the first week, it sounds like it you may not have missed much.
Just a thought.

As you know, I too SUCK at math and for me, X = graduation. Like you, I too missed the enrollment for the EC math class so I came up with a multi-step plan to solve for X.
1. Take CLEP College Math (47-CRAP!)
2. Take PFC Tech Math (Passed -B)
3. Take EC Math
4. Take local B&M college Math class
Fortunately I only bombed the CLEP exam and managed to get a B on the PFC Tech math class allowing me to solve for X. If this didn't work I still had choice 3 & 4 to explore and I am fairly confident that choice 3 - the EC course would have done the trick.
GOOD LUCK!!
