A Month Later and still no academic eval-TESC

I am trying to graduate and I am so worried that they won't grade and apply my last TECEP by the end of the month. If they don't then I will miss June graduation and have to graduate months later, not even sure when.
They are notoriously slow with doing evals and transcribing tests. Just take a deep breath and try to do the eval yourself with help on here.

Ryoder, click on my road map in my sig and at the top are the dates you are looking for if your class isn't awarded in time. These are direct from TESC.

Make sure you go ahead and pay the graduate fee, noting that all credits have been taken including the TECEP. As long as you get the application in before the end of the month you should be fine. The process of applying the TECEP to the transcript is still slow and may take another month, but the employees handling the final degree audit and graduation are excellent. There is some wiggle room. My sons last course didn't end until October 28. The deadline to meet the December conferral date was October 1. I went ahead and applied, they charged my card, they didn't show the change until the second week of November, but he graduated December 2010 with no issues.

I simply replaced the exams I intially had picked for CLEP or DSST with "awarded through academic evaluation". These were all the credits awarded from Navy and CC.

Well I just received an email from the assistant director of evals. I was told that my eval would be expedited and I would receive an email when it was complete. I asked specifically when my eval would be completed or an estimate. Although the response was nice it did not answer my direct question. I still do not have any faith that my eval will be completed anytime this week or the next. I may end up changing my degree plan from psychology to liberal arts and I hope that I do not have to go through all types of hoops to get that done.

Once you get your eval and your student number you can login to their student services and pull up your own eval on demand. You can pick any degree they have and click go and it will tell you where you stand. Very nice.

Geezer - I got an email from tesc saying to do just that. I just faxed in my graduation request form with my CC# this afternoon. I should be fine. Thanks!

Okay,

So I received my eval this morning. I had guessed that they were going to give me around 70 credits towards my degree and I was correct. I had to change my major as I had taken many business courses at community college and if I would've went for ant arts degree I would've lost like 20 credits. So I am in BSBA General Mgmt like most Smile. I am about 6 credits away from the Associates in Business Mgmt as well. I just cannot believe that I am so close to finishing my degree. It almost seems surreal. I am so jittery right now that I don't know where to begin but I am ready. I have my plan mapped out for my courses to take. I will post my degree plan later on for you guys to view. Thanks so much for the positive comments you guys gave earlier in the week. To anyone else who is waiting I wish you the best and hopefully you will be hearing something soon Smile

I have a question. I have a MANY health science/ nursing credits and I was going to apply for the BS in Business Admin. there, but truth be told, I'm looking for the quickest route to a Bachelors degree. Preferably NOT a Liberal Arts degree, but if the difference between a B of Arts vs. a BS/BA in something else is more than 10+ classes worth, then I would probably reconsider a B of Arts. I am looking at the application now and going through it. I'm afraid my health science credits may not really transfer as well into Business as they would somewhere else. If that's the case, do they make suggestions on what degree you should go for? Say, for instance, would they approach you and kind of say something like "Hey, I see you applied for this degree, but your credits would actually speed up the process of graduating if you chose this degree"? I feel like they wouldn't because they are in this to make money..not sure! :nopity: hilarious

I am not so sure that they make recommendations but I do know that two days after I changed from degree from psych to business I had my eval. I would say that if you have more credits in the general education area (sciences, math, arts, etc) I would go for a BA degree. This is because 9/10 times you will end up wasting some credits that you have. If you did the BSBA option you would have to take all the required core courses and electives for business (if you have none or little credits in business). Do you have an a break down of your credits to look at? If so pleas post and I will try to help you out to see what areas you could apply the most to. Im getting pretty good at this eval thing Smile

I was able to present my case and gain another 4 credits, maybe 1 more too (im waiting for a response). So now I have about 45/46 credits until completion.
