$145.00 for Operations Management!
#1
For those looking for a course to complete operations management, I've found a link online for an ACE evaluated exam ($145.00). It's called Strategic Management of Resources and ACE recommends 3 Upper Level credits in OP management or Logistics Management.

Here are the links:

CPIM Master Planning of Resources Exam Information

Can anyone validate this at one of the Big 3 (esp Excelsior)--as I am not yet enrolled.

for what it's worth, I did get approval via email for this exam with one major caveat:

The APICS exams are all in the Operations Management area. They lead to a
certification in this subject. Please note that in order to get credit
for some of them you have to take others in the certification. The Basics
of Supply Chain Management does not require this. However this alone will
not satisfy the Production Operation Management core. The Strategic
Management of Resources would meet the core requirement.

it looks like these exams will fulfill the requirement; however, I'm just not sure how many of them you'd have to pass to receive credit. Who wants to be a guinea pig? Smile

can anyone explain a little about how these classes work? are they like independent study or like CLEP/DSST (self study)

also, how are the test taken? somewhere proctored or you take them online at home?

Has anyone taken these lately and been able to get credit for them?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

This is a certification by test. Go to APICS - The Association for Operations Management for more info. I've ordered the software. I found a site (not sure if it was linked to in the other thread) but everyone in the feedback agreed that the software was the key to passing. It is a series of five exams. First on is the intro and is a lower level 3 credit hours. The other four are upper level but you must pass three of them to get any credit. I've decided to go this route for numerous reasons. I seem to be able to test well and it looks like the sample questions in the software are a pretty good warm up. The feedback scores for those that used the CD's seemed to be around 315 with 300 being a pass. I'd guess this would be like a high 60's score on a CLEP. I just completed Ops management which covers a lot of the same ground.

I'll try and put together some feedback.

The nice thing about this, as noted, is that it's 12 upper level credit if you pass. If you join APICS it means a certificate as well. More stuff for your resume. That way I won't just have a degree but a BS + FEMA certificate + APICS certificate.

All exams are through Pearsons VUE.

It sounds like a great option but they are not listed on the ACE site. Maybe I missed it ? Has anyone seen the courses listed on ACE Credit Transcripts?

I would be cautious as the official ACE transcript site does not list the course. That doesn't mean you won't get approva,l but I wouldn't rely on the ACE recommendation because this course does not seem to appear on the list. I wish it did!

Software? Can you tell me what software and where to purchase it? Or does someone on this forum have their old stuff from this course they would be willing to sell? Pls. private message me if you do.

I am considering this for my husband. He has many certificates, but haven't had much luck in getting credits for those.

Thanks for your help.
I may order stuff soon for him as well. But, I guess I need to get pricing for course and materials and all that stuff.
