I just stumbled on this page for CLEP equivalencies at Minnesota State University at Moorhead where -- if I'm reading it right -- they will give you up to 14 credits(!) for the Spanish CLEP exam:

Anybody know of any other colleges giving so many credits for one exam? I did not think anyone was giving more than 9 credits...

Schools don't always go by the ACE recommendations.
In this instance, the school gives more credit for it than ACE says, because their courses are more credits. Their 4 equivalent courses are all worth 4cr each, so I'm guessing they gave 4cr each for Span 101 & 102, and 3cr each for Span 201 & 202.

My local CC (Ivy Tech) gives up to 16cr for French or Spanish (101, 102, 201, & 202 in either one), 12cr for German (as a generic humanities credit).

Wow, nice, okay. Too bad the ACE recommendation went down to nine credits instead of the twelve they used to recommend.
