  ECE Gerontology textbook question
Posted by: sklineho - 10-12-2012, 08:50 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (1)

I just passed Psych of Adulthood and Aging. I'm gonig to take FoG even though TESC will likely stick me with Lower Lever credit. I've got the Adulthood and Aging textbook already. Is it enough or should I get the book excelsior says we should use for FoG? I'd think they'd be similar in content.

Thanks.

Xfer U of New England Post Baccalaureate credits to TESC?
Posted by: brajalle - 10-12-2012, 02:25 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - No Replies

I'm curious if anyone has experience transferring in University of New England's post-baccalaureate sequence courses to TESC. The courses are all 300-level courses at UNE, and my question is if the coursework has transferred as upper level credit or not. Bit expensive, but there aren't a ton of options for a few of those courses, and the others are difficult to find graded and with labs. Those things are fairly critical when considering any sort of med program, but at TESC, it would be helpful if they were UL courses, and not just standard 100/200 level science courses. Ie, I would hope that Medical Chemistry 1 would not turn into CHE121 for example.

Excelsior - transcripts Evaluated - need advice on CLEP DSST please......
Posted by: houdini2040 - 10-11-2012, 02:12 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (3)

First and foremost any help is greatly appreciated. You are all positive and awesome.
Received my transcripts evaluated and degree would be in "Bachelor of Science in Business"
They require that I take some courses, but of course I would like to CLEP & DSST out of as much as possible. Please advice on deciphering what it means also. Thank you Smile .
Here is what they require:

Degree Template:
Arts and Sciences (60) + Business Components (45) + Additional Requirement Components (15) = Total Degree Credits Required (120)

ARTS AND SCIENCES:
Written English 3.0 ( I already have english 101 & 102 completed, they asked me to enroll to talk to a counselor to enable a proper credit transfer of them)
Microeconomics 3.0 (will do CLEP)
Statistics 3.0 (will do DSST)
Remaining Arts and Science Requirement 4.0 (What do I take here please, easiest ones if possible)

ADDITIONAL CREDIT COMPONENT (15 Credits) TO INCLUDE:
Information Literacy 1.0 (I guess I have to take it at Excelsior)

BUSINESS COMPONENT (45 Credits) TO INCLUDE:
Financial Accounting 3.0 (Principles of Finance CLEP?)
Managerial Accounting 3.0 (Principles of Management CLEP?)
Introduction to United States Business Law 3.0 (Introductory Business Law CLEP?)
Principles of Management 3.0 (CLEP)
Financial Management 3.0 (CLEP)
Production/Operations Management 3.0 (What do I take here?)
Business Policy BUS *495 (Must take at Excelsior)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Organizational Behavior Not Met (Please advise what to take here and what it means)
Ethics Not Met (I took engineering ethics, but apparently does not apply here) (Please advise what to take here and what it means).
Additional Business Credit 16.00 (I really need to take this many more?)
Upper-level Business Credit 19.00 (I really need to take this many more?)

My friend who who used to frequent this site "bkahuna" recommended some of these CLEP & DSST exams and courses to finish the above requirements, though I have to real clue on what they will replace or give me credit for:
CLEP
Principles of Microeconomics
Natural Sciences (he had no clue here either, I was thinking Psychology & something else?)
Principles of Management
Principles of Marketing
Introductory Business Law

DSST
Introduction to Business
Principles of Supervision
Management Information Systems
Principles of Statistics
Organizational Behavior
Business Ethics and Society
Business Law II
Money & Banking
Here's to your Health
Principles of Finance

How do you utilize your study materials?
Posted by: seanmathews - 10-11-2012, 02:04 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

So I've taken 4 Clep's so far and preparing for my 5th, I've used the rea book on all of them so far because in my opinion it is a very good general study guide. Although when I read it, I basically read it once through but take notes on the important facts (I find myself taking a lot of notes because its basically already a study guide of a 300+ page text book). At times it could take me 3-5 days to get through the book and it feels like I'm putting too much time in it. I've heard others say they just read through it..

Just wondering how y'all out there study with the REA book, just reading, once or more than once, reading with notes? Not only that but with other study material, IC, and Specific feedback topics.

Working towards my bsba for tesc I planned my next 2-3 months with 1 Clep a week. A part of me wants to increase that to a few a week like others on here do.

Looking to see how others utilize their study material Smile
Might also help give some newer people some direction Smile

Straighterline Acct 101 Questions about Chapters to Study for the Exams
Posted by: liveonboca - 10-10-2012, 09:42 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

Hello,

I just started Acct 101 yesterday.

I cannot figure out which chapters I should read for each of the 4 exams. I know there are 4 exams, 1 mid-term and 1 final exam.

For the first exam, the syllabus mentions TOPIC 4 first. Does that mean Chapters 1-4 or just the online Topics 1-4? Then it mentions TOPIC 7. Is that Chapters 4-7? or Topics 4-7 online?

Please help! I have the book so I am trying to read the right chapters before I start my first exam. I was not trying to do the online topics as I read they really did not correlate well to the exam.

Thank you!

The class format required is one that is 15 weeks online and starting in January. I am transfering commands and dont know the deployment schedule and was wondering if anyone knows of another format to take this class in. It will be the last class I have to graduate with my BS in Liberal Studies.... Im just looking for another format to take it in that works with my schedule.
