I think if your community college accepts the CLEP English Composition with essay and will award you 6 credits...I would definitely take that instead of Straighterline.
I don't think the English Composition will be difficult for someone who is "well-versed" in the subject matter. I thought I could at least pass this exam and ended up scoring a 49 and I needed a 50 to receive credit. A year + later I found out from CollegeBoard that I actually scored a 50...they said it was a "scoring error."
Bottom line...check with your cc to see what score they require first and whether they accept it at all.
