GRE stands for Graduate Record Examinations. They are offered by ETS (Educational Testing Service). Their website can be found at http://www.ets.org

Only the GRE subject exams can be used to gain that many credits at Excelsior. The GRE general exam doesn't qualify. Also, only Excelsior gives up to 30 credits for the exams. At least, that is to the best of my knowledge. The following subjects have subject exams.

Biochemistry
Biology
Chemistry
Computer Science
Literature in English
Mathematics
Physics
Psychology

These tests are only offered three times a year at paper-based testing centers. I have never taken one of these tests, however, I did look at some of the practice tests. IMO, these are definitely not CLEP tests, they are much harder.
