Just wanted to share a way to get mega credits at Excelsior for those who haven't heard of this yet. Here is what Excelsior emailed me back when I asked them about GRE Psychology. (I am going for a liberal arts)
If you take the GRE in Psychology, you have an opportunity to earn a lot of credits with one test.
Credits are awarded starting at the 35th percentile, adding 3 more credits for every 5 percentile points. The first 12 credits are always lower level. Credits at the 55th percentile and above are upper level. Examples of desirable scores are as follows:
80th percentile - A score of 685 will earn you 12 LL and 18 UL credits (a total of 30).
75th percentile - A score of 670 will earn you 12 LL and 15 UL credits (a total of 27).
(LL = Lower Level, UL = Upper Level)
-Magic
to do list:
nothing!
THEN I AM FINISHED!
waiting results:
None! I am done!
0 UL credits to get by December!

OK, say one does well on this test, does this waive the requirement for all the other silly UL courses like R&F of the Soviet Empire and Civil War and Reconstruction? I can only hope as I am dreading these so badly.
Found this for a bit of info on the GRE

GRE stands for Graduate Record Examinations. They are offered by ETS (Educational Testing Service). Their website can be found at
http://www.ets.org
Only the GRE subject exams can be used to gain that many credits at Excelsior. The GRE general exam doesn't qualify. Also, only Excelsior gives up to 30 credits for the exams. At least, that is to the best of my knowledge. The following subjects have subject exams.
Biochemistry
Biology
Chemistry
Computer Science
Literature in English
Mathematics
Physics
Psychology
These tests are only offered three times a year at paper-based testing centers. I have never taken one of these tests, however, I did look at some of the practice tests. IMO, these are definitely not CLEP tests, they are much harder.

On another thread recently posted, it was reported that new requirements for the Excelsior major in psychology will be implemented in 2007. These requirements eliminate the opportunity for testing out of that degree, so it would be wise to check with an advisor before embarking on a plan to use the GRE for that major. As far as upper level credits are concerned, there are a total of 30 needed for graduation, and the most that are allowed for the GRE is 18. I used the GRE Psychology test to accrue credits, and found that the best thing about it was that the studying was consolidated.....even so, it's a LOT of information to absorb!

Pretty sure excelsior (and most colleges) allow you to use the degree path you signed up for...so as long as you start prior to the change, you should still be able to take that path.
