Canada has its own shit show immigration and economic problems, I disagree with inheriting their mess until they can sort it out. When/if that happens, I think it would make a decent vassal or protectorate. Since that's essentially what we do for them at this point...

Last time I checked a president doesn't have to campaign on every action they take during their presidency. Quite impossible actually. Gaining control of Greenland would not require a war and it is a net positive for the economy and a threat deterrence against countries like Russia. Only leftists and never Trumpers see it as a bad thing. These are things Trump stood on.
Greenland has far more to gain in the US sphere of influence, than a minor European power's hands.
