Hey all.
Well, the second course is completed, and the grades are in, and I wanted to drop another quick update. The course was BUS 901 Introduction to Academic Scholarship. My opinion is that this should have been the first course as the fundamentals presented would have addressed many of the issues people had in the previous course.
The work level and time needed to complete the course was similar to my MBA program.
The instructor was the Dean of the program, and her videos and materials were excellent, as was the final assignment rubric. She marked my assignment, which surprised me as I had expected it to be a TA. Her input was spot on.
We had one UpGrad conference call, which was too early for me to attend due to time zones, so I skipped it. I was the only person who submitted the optional assignments and group activities. There seemed to be one TA on board for the course who commented on discussions and assignments. UpGrad sent an email about three weeks before the end of the course with instructions on how to book a half-hour TA session. I didn't bother as the last TA meeting hadn't been particularly helpful.
I confirmed that the TAs are not Edgewood employees; they are from UpGrad, though apparently, they adhere to Edgewood's standards.
I asked questions at three different times during the course and received zero responses. Two questions were left on the discussion boards, once in the group support chat. The only surefire way to get responses seems to be through the UpGrad support email, and usually it requires escalation, meaning it will take 3-5 days for an answer.
Overall, I'm still enjoying the program and materials, and I feel like I’m learning a lot.
That's it for now, the next update will be in about six weeks. Have a great day!
