DBH W/ Clinical Internship

I am a licensed MSN prepared Psych NP looking for a terminal degree that is clinically focused. Purposely avoiding dissertations, capstones, DNP, etc.
ASU DBH w/ an internship is very appealing, though $90k gives pause. Anyone aware of similar programs for a lower price. Thank you!

I would skip the ASU program. 90K? No way!

To be honest with you, if you want to skip dissertations and capstones, it's going to be slim pickings. At the Doctoral level, those things are common, and to be honest, should be expected and embraced.

The Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies is a freestanding degree-granting institution co-founded in 2015 by Nicholas Cummings, who previously created the DBH program at ASU. Cummings has been nationally accredited by the DEAC since 2019; it is not regionally accredited. Cummings offers its DBH for just over 24k. The culminating project is an applied project built up at least in part during regular coursework.

Kairos University offers a Doctor of Professional Counseling through its competency-based, pay-by-term subscription-priced format at $400 per month. Kairos incorporates an evangelical Christian worldview into its programs. There is a culminating project report or thesis.

It's a step away with a less clinically-focused title, but Capella University offers a Doctor of Human Services in Leadership and Management available through its competency-based, pay-by-term subscription-priced FlexPath format. Tuition and fees are $3175 per 12-week term. It does include a capstone doctoral project, divided into five doctoral project courses.

Cummings is okay for what it is. I think it follows the weekly class model which may or may not be ideal for some people.

Kairos seems like the best option if a person has no issues with the Christian infusion. It also is the most flexible since it is self-paced independent study with the exception of mandatory weekly group sessions with other licensed professionals, which I think is a great idea and a valuable addition to the program.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with Capella. No offense to anyone who graduated from the school, but there are just too many better options out there for that field.
