VAPORWAVE Wrote:Can anyone recommend a fairly quick/beginner course to start out? I just want to get in on the deal while it's active and don't know what to start. I've always had plans to tackle CS50 Introduction to Computer Science but as some of you may already know, that's an extremely long and rigorous course that I'm nowhere near ready for.

Good first post, but it's missing a lot of information for people to help you... What subjects are you interested in?  There are well over 335 courses to take, you can change that around to programs instead of classes, that would drop the list down, also change the language to English vs both English and Spanish.  Select the Introductory ones instead of the advanced/intermediate options...  To answer your question, since you're into Computers, you may want to go for the W3Cx Front-End Web Developer as a start and then decide further after completing that, I just started that myself to 'pickup' some skills...

For those wondering, here are my options for a few of these cheap/freebie options, and the providers they are from such as Coursera, Edx, and the corresponding partners they have.  You can decide on what you want to do by 'searching' for specific items (like I mentioned above, by program, language, etc).

Coursera/Google offerings:

Data Analytics
Digital Marketing & E-Commerce
IT Automation with Python
IT Support Professional
Project Management
UX Design

Amazon/IBM/Meta offerings:

Cloud Solutions Architect
Cybersecurity Analyst Professional
Social Media Marketing Professional
Front-End Developer
Back-End Developer

edx offerings:

EC-Council Cybersecurity Essentials $348.30  96 hrs
ISCEA Certified Supply Chain Analyst (CSCA) $987.30  96hrs
W3Cx Front-End Web Developer $895.50  196 hrs
HarvardX Data Science $1332.90  216 hrs
NYIF Stock Trading $299.70  24 hrs
5 Various NYIF Professional Certs $1K+ each  40hrs

Sorry about that, I probably should have given some background information. I was around here years ago getting on track to do the WGU BSCS degree. Some life things got in the way, and I had to put my goals on hold. After coming back around here I've decided I want to do the Pierpont BOG AAS to UMPI pipeline. I plan on starting the TEEX courses after the holidays and will eventually start getting credits through Sophia. I'm in no rush however as I'd like to do a bunch of free courses to learn a bit more to make things easier for myself. I'm also holding out hope that UMPI will add some type of CS degree to their offerings but if not, I have no issue going after the BLS in Management Information Systems.

I'm very much into computers, programming/coding specifically. I do know HTML, CSS, and a bit of JavaScript so that W3Cx course looks right up my ally. Thank you for all the suggestions.
