I am in an ENEB program myself and thought I would chime in on this. First, the assignments do require some time and effort but help you put your thoughts on paper so to speak. Now everyone's time, and financial situation can be different, and I don't come from a one-size-fits-all point of view. I for one prefer to test out as much as possible, and assuming this option actually works out into a reduction of work needed I am okay with it.
There are people here who could benefit from being able to reduce the time they spend on writing since they earn an income doing other things of higher importance to them. Some of us here are long-term planers, and having the option is good at a time when getting graduate credit in a non-traditional way is much more limited.
