For the GEC, yes. Each course can satisfy multiple requirements. Each requirement can only be met with a single course.
Example: GEC requirements 1A, 1B, 1D, 2C, and 4B can be satisfied with just 6 credits. English Comp I & II.
On the other hand, if you have both US History I & II, only 3 credits will go toward GEC 5B. The other class will either go to electives or remain unused for your degree.
