degree planning advice needed

ss20ts-

I appreciate the information. I don't necessarily need to get a Bachelor's in Finance. I think the YourPace Bachelor of Business Administration (BABA) concentration in Mgmt and Leadership would be the best option for me if I go to UMPI. I would also consider the Bachelor in Liberal Studies concentration in Mgmt if that iss available through YourPace. I am not sure if UMPI or TESU would be the best option.

Thanks,

There are degree plans for UMPI here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:UMPI You would need, at the very minimum, Spanish from Sophia (or an ACTFL exam if you are fluent in another degree like French), and your sciences from Sophia (either Human Biology w/ lab or Intro to Chem w/ lab + Human Biology). You already have an astronomy class, so you don't need Environmental Science or Intro to Chem. You'd only have to take Intro to Chem w/ lab if you don't want to do Sophia's lab for Human Biology. It sounds like you've got a pretty full schedule already, so a competency-based degree might not be right for you. However, if you are able to complete the degree in 3 8-week sessions, it'd be $4200 plus whatever you paid for Sophia. If you were able to finish in 2 sessions, it'd be $2800. Plus Sophia.

Mid-range, price-wise, would be Excelsior. But they're possibly the most difficult way of these three to get a business degree. Especially with the new changes that they'll charge a couple hundred dollars per transcript evaluation, once you're enrolled (first evaluation pre-enrollment is free), it can be more difficult to know where you stand with Excelsior. They're also kind of picky about what they'll accept for English Comp, especially for a Business degree. IIRC, you can do English Comp I at either Sophia or SDC, but then (for business degrees ONLY), you either have to do an Excelsior course or I think Business Communications at Coopersmith covers the requirement. If you do choose Excelsior, dfrecore is probably the most experienced with them and can help you map out your degree.

TESU could be the most expensive out of these three, but about the same as Excelsior when it comes to speed. There are more exams and fewer papers, which is also a bonus for some people. If you'd prefer to avoid writing assignments, TESU is the way to go. You can focus on courses that are mostly exams. You also don't have to worry as much about work/life getting in the way and having to drop out of a course unexpectedly as you might with UMPI. If you need to pause Study.com or Sophia, you can do so easily without a grade penalty. If you choose to do Davar courses, it's the same price whether you take the exam in 1 month or 6 months from now, so price isn't a concern there. There are degree plans here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...ts_Roadmap Your D grade in History will transfer to TESU: https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/current/...on-Grading

Because you already have 25 RA credits, you don't have to worry about TESU's minimum RA credit requirements. You'd have those met if you only took the capstone & cornerstone at TESU and then paid the waiver fee. Slightly cheaper, though possibly more difficult for someone with a busy schedule, would be to do a 16-credit flat-rate term at TESU. 6 credits would be $3210, plus the waiver fee of $3288, which would be almost exactly $6500. Flat-rate tuition for 16 credits would be $4778. Only you can decide if it'd be worth almost $2000 to not take 16 credits at once when you don't need more RA credit.

@rachel83az

Thanks for your quick reply. It sounds like UMPI BABA with concentration in Mgmt and Leadership would be the cheapest *IF* I can do it in 2 terms after say I complete the rest of my classes through Sophia or SDC. If I complete the UMPI Bachelor's in 3 sessions (6 months) at $4200 then if I do the 16 credit flat rate tuition of $4778 at TESU, it doesn't seem like a whole lot more money ($500-600) range than UMPI?

I don't have a strong preference on writing/not writing papers although I would tend to not want to write papers as much. I like the cheaper cost of UMPI if I can do it in 2 sessions. Since I already have a year long membership in Sophia for about $600, would I be able to complete the rest of my gen ed classes there including the lab science Intro to Chem class instead of taking BIO101L at SDC? Or, do I need to also take classes at SDC? I am trying to keep my costs down by taking as many classes as possible at Sophia.

My goal is to ideally get my Bachelor's done by the end of 2023. However, even if I don't get it until Spring, 2024, it would still be the same time as I would have actually gotten my Bachelor's degree from YSU in 4 years (2020 HS grad), so I am ok with that time frame.

The only concern I have is that if I don't get as many classes done as possible on the UMPI competency YourPace model as possible, do you think a Bachelor's degree in Business Admin or Bachelor of General Studies or Liberal Studies with a Mgmt concentration might be a better option at TESU?

Also, if I get my Bachelor's degree in Bus. Admin at TESU, how many proctored classes would I need on a degree plan? Proctoring isn't a big deal, but, my dad who is EducationSeeker username on this board recommended I should at least check out the proctor platform as some of them are not that great.

Thanks-
