Outlier Launches Associate Degrees

Note on transfer: it looks like they limit non accredited transfer(military, work, certificates, etc.) Would be limited to 12. I'm guess ACE, if they accept it, would be included in that limit.

I didn't find a transfer policy on this in the current catalog. Is it somewhere else on their site?

Links to brochures for the 3 degrees. These show what certificates you can choose from for each program and what courses are included(hint: some courses like calculus 2, computer science 1/2, managerial accounting, and professional communication are planned for release in time for their corresponding semester).  

Could be a good opportunity for someone who is already collecting mostly RA credits and doesn't have many other local/flexible CC options for an associates degree. If one maximized transfer credits and only needed the final 15 through outlier/GGU, they'd pay $149 * 15 = $2235. Having the CS 1/2, calc 1/2, and accounting courses as potential RA options could be beneficial for some. Also, application is free.

I'm currently taking four classes through outlier and saw this drop today. My original plan was to finish and then apply those credits to WGU but I have to admit, I have really enjoyed the experience on outlier and I'm tempted to postpone WGU and get the AS for applied computer science through them.

But if what you say is true, specifically, that computer science I/II, Calculus II, won't be ready for a while, that would mean too much of a delay for me I think, I already have an english I credit from a community college and I'm currently taking precalculus intro to business, intro to philosophy, and intro to statistics through them, plus I've already completed a number of ace credits through sophia(only being able to transfer in 12 is another downside for my situation). 

Jealous of any first time students who gets to take advantage of this program though!

Not an advantage, I just mean that they could focus their energy on outlier and not spend time on getting more ace credits than they need to, I've already dedicated too much time to ace credits to not be able to transfer more than 12. I did apply though just to see what will transfer/the details of the degree program. One very tempting thing is that I'm relatively close to the college and could take bart, haven't looked up the exact commute time but my cousin got his bachelors in computer science from GGU.

Just to clarify, we don't know when those courses will be ready, only that they claim they'll be ready in time for the corresponding semesters listed in the brochure. They could come out in the next few months or only exactly when they're needed.

You could go ahead and apply for the AS Applied Computing degree for free, see how everything transfers and make your decision later. The degree does intrigue me. 

As a side note: I haven't been able to read any recent reviews of outlier courses or talk to recent students. How do you like your courses and why do you like them? How are they structured?

I agree, I did apply just to see where I would stand, another benefit to me is that GGU is relatively close to me and I could ride BART for my classes once I completed the program and start my bachelors.

Overall I've been happy with outlier, my opinion might be influenced by getting them for free through amazon though. I do wish there were more practice materials for the precalculus class, I've had to search out problems myself to feel confident in my understanding of the material. I've found their proctoring to be painless, but to be fair, I haven't taken online classes anywhere else but outlier and sophia so my experience is limited. I've only read horror stories about terrible proctors which is a big part of why I wouldn't mind continuing with outlier(I suffer from test anxiety).
