Length: 1 day (7 hours).
Dates: May 2004-Present
Objective: To provide the students with training in identifying volunteer resources and recruiting, training, supervising, evaluating, and motivating volunteers.
Learning Outcome: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: describe the differences between a Volunteer Program Manager and a VOLAG (Voluntary Agency) Coordinator; determine how their agencies could use volunteer services; determine whether their agencies should coordinate volunteers or work with VOLAG's-or both; identify the skills, knowledge, and abilities required of volunteers in emergency management programs; develop a strategy for recruiting, interviewing, training, supervising, and evaluating volunteers; develop a strategy for working with VOLAG's, professional groups, and business and industry; identify special issues in volunteer management and at least one point of contact who can provide expertise in each issue area.
Instruction: Major topics covered in the course are: Volunteers in Emergency Management, Developing a Volunteer Program, Working with VOLAG's, Community Based Organizations (CBO's), and other Groups, Special Issues. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, collaborative learning. Evaluation criteria includes a final exam.
Credit Recommendation: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Volunteers in Emergency Planning (3/05). NOTE: To be eligible for the credit recommendation, students must complete: Developing and Managing Volunteers IS 244 and Emergency Planning and Special Needs Populations G 197.

so, unless you have also taken course G 197, you can't get credit.
oh well, back to the drawing board. seems like fcc or tesc still seem to be the only way to go.
