ASU Universal Learner Math Weekly Courses Now NON-PROCTORED !
#1
Update: Weekly versions of courses are now non-proctored, on-demand versions of the courses proctored. See the most recent information towards the bottom of this thread.

I've been procrastinating College Algebra, Precalc, Calc I from ASU because of the proctored midterm and final exams.

I took a look at the syllabi for these courses and found out that the courses were recently updated to non-proctored exams!

https://ea.asu.edu/courses/

I already took these courses on Sophia but I'd rather have RA graded credits for future grad school applications (MAT142 - College Mathematic is still proctored)

The following math courses are now non-proctored!! They are self paced and enroll anytime. Can be finished as fast as possible. You pay $25 to start. Then pay $400 to get it transcripted. So $142/credit total for a 3 credit course or $107/credit for a 4 credit course.  If you get a B (89.49%) or lower, you can unenroll, pay $25 again, and redo the entire course without getting a W on your transcript.

IF finished before 6 weeks, one must wait a total of 6 weeks from the start date to pay $400 to transcript it. I was able to finish college algebra and precalc in just a few days and have to wait another 5-6 weeks before transcripting. I'm working on Business calc now!

- MAT117 - College Algebra (3) - $425

- MAT170 - Precalculus (3) - $425

- MAT210 - Business Calculus (3) - $425

- MAT265 - Calculus for Engineers I (3) - $425

- STP226 - Elements of Statistics (3) - $425

Thank you for the info! I'm trying to figure out how ASU learners works and I have a few questions:

If you complete the course within a few days in December and have to wait 6 weeks before transcription, does that mean the course is completed in January, after the 6 week? Do you know if you can choose to have the credits go on the fall semester or spring?

Can you finish a course, then wait 6 months to transcript it, does it go in the semester you paid for it, or the semester you completed the course?

Weird, I had to do a double take and thought this was Upper Level classes... But it's for Universal Learner! So... Back to the drawing board for upper level ACE/NCCRS or other RA credits that I'm looking at or looking for...

I edited the thread title to make clear it's about Universal Learner math courses, not Upper Level math courses.

Can you finish a course, then wait 6 months to transcript it, does it go in the semester you paid for it, or the semester you completed the course?

The self paced courses transcript the semester that you FINISH the course.

Finishing a course  = you finish all assignments, get a 70% higher, and you press the button  "Click here when you're completely done with the course and have all assignments graded" at the bottom of the modules page.

Lets say I start a course 11.01.24. I finish it on 11.15.24. I would still need to wait six weeks total to transcript it on 12.13.24.

But if you transcript a course in December 1-31, it will be transcripted for Fall 2024.

If you transcript a course January 1-31, it will be transcripted for Spring 2025.

But lets say you would rather have it transcript it for Spring 2025, finish all your assignments but DONT press the "Click here when you're done with the course". Wait until January 1 or later to press that button.

But of course, you have until 11.01.25 (12 months after the start date) to press the "Finish the course button".

You have the option to strategically transcript this course in Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or Fall 2025.

So overall:
Start course - 11.01.24
finish all assignments 11.15.24
wait until 12.13.24 (or your intended course transcription semester)
and then press the "Finish the course button"

It looks like for the Fall 2024 classes, the weekly class was non-proctored but the on-demand syllabus said it was proctored. I signed up for the weekly version for spring 2025. Waiting for the syllabus to release to see what's up with the proctoring. Which ones did you do that had no proctoring?

I signed up for the on-demand courses for
- College Mathematics
- Precalculus
- Brief Calculus
- Calculus for Engineers I

I took a look at the syllabi for the on-demand classes I took. They all said that the midterm/final were non-proctored

However, I took a look at the course website and saw that the course syllabi were updated for all math courses on 12/23/24. It looks like the new weekly 8-16 week versions are NON-PROCTORED and the new on-demand 12-month versions are PROCTORED now

Above links are for Precalculus 8-16 week vs Precalculus on-demand 12-month

I think I got lucky with locking in my registration with the non-proctored on-demand version

But the weekly courses are still a great deal, being non-proctored. The weekly courses let you take both midterm and final TWICE

Whereas the on-demand courses only let you take the midterm and final ONCE
