How do you know if the email address works? If I click on "Enroll for Free" and it still pops up the 2 options like what's shown below means it didn't work?
As it happens, Machine Learning is one of the courses that is not included in the free certificate list. Well, the Andrew Ng course at least, not sure about the others.
However, after submitting your school address for verification for the free program it should confirm that you were accepted or not. The next time you log in using that email address it will pop up something and move you into the Coursera for Students program.
You should be able to verify this by looking at the top of the screen (on mobile) or by clicking on the little icon in the top left of the website on the desktop version) where it should say "Coursera for Students" if the account is properly flagged and you're accessing the right part of the site. If you have a regular Coursera account as well as a student account on the same account, you may need to use the dropdown in that area to select the students' version.
