We can have her continue with the transfer AA in Business for next school year (she only has to take one math class - statistics - to earn the degree). At the end of this semester, she will have earned an AA in General business and a 30 unit general business certificate from her CC. However, she will only have 54 transfer units (with regards to in-state 4-year colleges). Is the reason you recommend the BSBA for employment reasons (later in life)? I will speak with her about her options. However, due to the fact that her desire to write children's books does not translate into a college major, she does not seem to have much opinion about which major she should choose for a BA/BS. I told her that the BSBA is a "safe" major for getting a job and she said, "OK, I'll do that then." However, I will let her know what her options are for the BALS too now that I have received some info. here from the experts on TESU.
Actually, writing children's books does have an associated college major, it is called "creative writing." At the bachelor's level, this subject is usually part of a BFA (bachelor of fine arts) degree. My wife has a minor in creative writing and is considering going back to school to pursue a masters in creative writing (or an MFA with a concentration in creative writing) since she is an author and would like to focus more on that aspect of her career.
So, if this is an area your daughter is interested in, she might want to look for creative writing programs.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23
