I know virtually nothing about Saylor courses, and have never taken one.  I was just thinking that for many of these, he wouldn't need to take the course - he could actually just take the practice final exam, then take the for-credit final and pass and move on.  The courses themselves are free, the proctored final exams are $25.

If you opt to use another provider, the cost will be different - the $100/course is just an average, depending on which course you actually use, it could be more or less.
