If it was me, I would supplement it with extra math worksheets or even some extra materials online, at the library, and to use Khan Academy when the time comes, then there's the PatrickJMT videos (youtube videos), etc. The main thing is to get the kids interest up in the subject, then run with it!
Thanks bjcheung! I had already tried all of these supplements, but he just wouldn't listen to me. Now I'm letting the super cool tutor take over for a while and then we'll try to add these resources again. I'm just thrilled that as little as $4 an hour can get you an amazing tutor. I never would have considered!
