My 17 year old was the same - much more knowledgeable about world history and the first half of US history - he's actually really glad he took US History 2 with SL - it was a short text and he learned a lot he wouldn't have learned otherwise - he was taking it to check off that box, but I think he got something out of it in that 4 day timespan as well.
