I have not taken Intro to Homeland Security, though I am thinking about taking it. I have taken Criminology and Victimology. The final is taken online through the course website, it is not proctored. It is timed, 3 hours I believe. 100 questions. It took me about an hour. The lessons are about 1 to 3 hours. Each lesson has assigned chapter(s). Each lesson includes a presentation similar to FEMA IS. It has slides, some have audio or video, some review questions. There are separate audio files included though I haven't used them. The course includes a free eBook. I can open it on my laptop but have trouble opening it on my tablet.
I go to the lesson to see which chapters are assigned to that lesson. I read the chapter(s). I then review the presentation and study guide review questions. Then I take the practice quiz. It is ungraded but required in order to take the graded quiz. I take the practice quiz a couple of times. You can take it up to 5 times, must get 80 percent, 5 questions. Then I take the graded quiz, can only be taken once, 15 questions. Some lessons include a test which covers several lessons. There is a practice test, must score 80 percent to move onto graded test. Graded test has 15 questions. Practice test can be taken up to 5 times but graded test can be taken once. I believe the quizzes and tests are timed, 1 hour. Usually takes me about 20 min.
